                MonsieurM,

I believe they have removed the picture you are looking for.

Best I can tell this is the sequence you have an interest in, it is hard to read the date on the smaller picture:

                          bhaas,

The majority of these are pictures from the SOHO satellite.

The sun is behind the disk.

                          SOHO (Solar and Heliospheric Observatory)

LASCO (Large Angle and Spectrometric Coronagraph)

It is now 16 Years, 7 Months, and 16 Days since SOHO Launched on December 2, 1995!

SOHO travels with the Earth as it revolves around the Sun, but at a distance of 1,500,000 km closer to the Sun.

C3 images have a larger field of view: They encompass 32 diameters of the Sun. To put this in perspective, the diameter of the images is 45 million kilometers (about 30 million miles) at the distance of the Sun, or half of the diameter of the orbit of Mercury. Many bright stars can be seen behind the Sun.

The shadow crossing from the lower left corner or lower right corner to the center of the image is the support for the occulter disk.

                          Thanks for asking.

                          Hope that helps.

                                Corona - Total Solar Eclipse

One of the most spectacular sights in all of nature is the corona during a total solar eclipse. The corona is the sun's atmosphere. It actually extends far out into the solar system, well past the Earth.
