      Ionization Waves August 31, 2012

IONIZATION WAVES: Magnetic fields snaking around the sun's southeastern limb are crackling with C- and M-class solar flares. Extreme UV pulses from the flares are illuminating Earth's upper atmosphere, causing waves of ionization to ripple around the dayside of our planet. Rob Stammes detected the sudden ionospheric disturbances (SIDs) from his laboratory in Lofoton, Norway:

"The extra ionization altered the propagation of very low frequency radio signals around Northern Europe," explains Stammes. "I detected these changes using my 60 kHz SID receiver."

More ionization waves are in the offing. NOAA forecasters estimate a 40% chance of M-class solar flares during the next 24 hours.

          MAGNIFICENT ERUPTION August 31, 2012

MAGNIFICENT ERUPTION: A filament of magnetism curling around the sun's southeastern limb erupted on August 31, 2012 producing a coronal mass ejection (CME), a C8-class solar flare, and one of the most beautiful movies ever recorded by NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory:

The explosion hurled a CME away from the sun traveling faster than 500 km/s (1.1 million mph). The cloud, shown here, is not heading directly toward Earth, but it could deliver a glancing blow to our planet's magnetic field on or about September 3rd. This date is preliminary and may be changed in response to more data from coronagraphs on the Solar and Heliophysics Observatory (SOHO).

                Subsiding Storm

SUBSIDING STORM: A geomagnetic storm that began on Sept. 3rd when a coronal mass ejection (CME) hit Earth's magnetic field is fitfully subsiding. The impact at 1200 UT (5 am PDT) induced significant ground currents in the soil of northern Scandinavia and sparked bright auroras around the Arctic Circle. Ole C. Salomonsen photographed the display over Naimakka, Finland, on Sept. 4th:

"There I was standing all alone deep in the Finish forest, just in awe of this display of light above my head," says Salomonsen. "This is just one of many images of spectacular auroras I shot on this wonderful night."

Each panel shows the eruption in a different wavelength of extreme ultraviolet light

THE SOURCE OF THE ACTION: The ongoing geomagnetic storms were caused, originally, by an eruption on the sun. NASA has just released new high-resolution images of the giant magnetic filament that snapped on August 31st:

Each panel shows the eruption in a different wavelength of extreme ultraviolet light. By comparing the colors, which trace different temperatures and densities of solar plasma, researchers can learn more about the dynamics of filaments--and maybe one day to predict when they will erupt.

The blast hurled a coronal mass ejection (CME) not-quite-directly toward Earth. A glancing blow from the cloud on Sept. 3rd set in motion the current spate of geomagnetic storms.

MASSIVE SOLAR PROMINENCE September 15, 2012

                      MASSIVE SOLAR PROMINENCE

Today, a huge arc of plasma-filled magnetism is rising over the sun's western limb. "It's more than 30 Earth diameters long," says amateur astronomer John Stetson, who this morning photographed the structure backlit by the blue skies of Falmouth, Maine:

Here is what the prominence looks like through the telescopes of NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory:

The size of the structure makes it an easy target for backyard solar telescopes. "Some prominences move at very high speed, but this one appears to be a relatively steady target for solar observers," says Stetson. "It is worth a look."

Did anyone experience the subtle energies on Nov 29 & 30th?

Did anyone experience the subtle energies on Nov 29 & 30th?

These energies were really resonating in the 3rd eye/pineal gland area.

Dream clarity/sensation was way up as well as sense of time disappeared.

More indications we are moving into a 5th dimension energy

Dense solar wind stream hit Earth's magnetic field on Dc. 1, 2012

THE SCALE OF AMAZING: A slow but dense solar wind stream hit Earth's magnetic field on Dec. 1st, 2012

WOW! From zero to 100 in 5 minutes! The sky has been clear for several days without a trace of any auroras here in the north, but tonight all this changed in an instant. From a thin pale arc stretching from east to west to one of the most powerful coronas in a long while with an exceptionally distict band of purple-pink from excited nitrogen molecules at the lower edge.

SpaceWeather.com -- News and information about meteor showers, solar flares, auroras, and near-Earth asteroids

CME IMPACT, GEOMAGNETIC STORM : Arriving a little earlier than expected, a CME hit Earth's magnetic field on Oct. 2nd at approximately 0200 UT. The impact sparked a G2-class geomagnetic storm with auroras across Canada and several northern-tier US states. Alan Dyer sends this picture from Gleichen, Alberta:

THE INSTIGATING CME: The CME that hit Earth's magnetic field today left the sun on Sept. 30th, propelled by an erupting magnetic filament. SOHO photographed the CME at the start of its journey, racing away from the sun at 2 million mph (900 km/s):

Sun’s 11-Year Cycle Caused by Dark Matter, Say Physicists
The way the planets influence the flow of dark matter into the Sun could explain one of the biggest mysteries in science, say particle physicists

The Sun’s 11-year cycle is one of science’s greatest mysteries. Astronomers have watched in fascination for centuries as the number of sunspots increases and decreases over a regular cycle of almost exactly 11 years.
