Getting a New Host - Chinese Hackers DDOS attacks and Chinese spammers coordinated through multiple IP's.

They first attacked when the energy conference was live, the 2nd attack was when Paul Babcock's presentation was released.

I'm working on it right now.

Why would Chinese hackers bother?

It is an easy excuse which does not seem very likely.

(I would have thought that they would attack this site and overunity.com before troubling themselves with that site).

Excuse? You're welcome to leave this forum and go elsewhere if you think I'm making up an excuse. You have no comprehension of what information is actually disruptive or not. Many people make claims that they get attacked, but I'm one of the few in this field that actually do get attacked.

That is one of DOZENS of emails from hostgator showing ip attacks from China. I don't play games with this like other people do, so kindly keep your uninformed opinions and allegations that I may be giving some excuse to yourself.

I thought I might have been banned for BSing too much. Methinks perhaps someone wasn't BSing enough. In any event it is quite odd to see server maintenance for what, days to weeks now, one could probably sue their service provider for that. This is quite likely entirely unrelated but one of the last posts I saw was related to Ibepointless2's captret and coupling it to a Bedini pulse motor gathering the BEMF/radiant/wathchamacallit. It led me to look at IB2's work. I'm not ready to say he's a genius yet but there is something wierd going on there and if it continues to hold up, then I would say he is absolutely right looking at the water (crystaline structure of) as the source. Am working on something with a 555 and a captret, not sure how it will turn out but will try to post further if anyone is interested.

I thought Hostgator was a great host, but they are actually completely incompetent and they play games - even though they have it documented over and over in their own words about all the attacks. Instead of simply blocking the IP's when it happens, they take the site down.

I also just learned this about Hostgator from someone in the hosting business and this is compounding the problem of the site going back up - so I'm moving servers:

Hostgator has royally screwed up with millions of websites this week (including my dedicated server). A few months ago they had a mandatory upgrade of dedicated server users with supposedly faster hardware. I was unaware that what really happened was that they offloaded all of us to their other data center in Provo, UT owned by their new parent company EIG. We used to be at The Planet in Dallas, TX (a really nice data center). In other words, Hostgator was bought out by a big company and they pushed us all to their crappy data center in UT without even telling us about the move (much less being bought out by a horrible company). The server was down for 14 hours today (completely unacceptable).

You can check out the Hostgator forum reviews section to see how many other people are leaving Hostgator. What a shame. It's really sad because I've been with Hostgator for 7½ years and they were a small host with great service. Unfortunately, EIG has a bad reputation of buying up small hosting companies and feeding them crap sandwiches (i.e. suffering customer service, down time, packet loss, etc).

Now I can see why they have dropped their support for energyscienceforum.com and won't return any of my requests. Therefore, BOYCOTT HOSTGATOR! They've turned into a bunch of sell-outs and have screwed all their customers in the process and many people are not getting responses.

For the attacks, I'm sure Bedini's SG running in Generator mode at the conference was a big no-no. Not sure why the Chinese care. They may be doing this to for a completely IP block so that nobody in China can know about any of this - reverse psychology.

Anyway, I plan to have the forum up in the next couple days.

When I first read this thread about problems over to esf me myself did not noticed something unusual
but a few days later me too saw the girl/ladies strange accounts.
Then, exactly I thought it maybe it was a hacking attack but I was not that sure about an attack taking place.
Now what I wonder more is why these chinese hackers (most probably, I think these hackers are government powered attacks as had happen the 3-5 last years) would like to attack a forum of the technology category (?).
Thinking about this more, I can relate these attacks to the unusual "interest" of chinese IP`s in my own forum which is virtually inexistent.
IP`s from china are the only ones "regularly" visiting my forum, probably to have a "look" what`s new over there.
Now, someone might think what I am goin to write here sounds like a conspiracy theory,but, either way I will let the idea to go on...
My critical point of view here, tells me that the leaders over there to china
have became to much of " a zealous types" having a great desire to put china
ahead of all countries regarding technology development, hence hacking is one of the most effective tools to "slow down" "others" , here others be the ones who are way accelerated in technology or the ones who go against china`s "tech-awake".

Think about: They don`t have to occupy others with weapons necessarily, when they can do that in/some a technological way from the comfort of their own home!
Here at the Mediterranian coasts & around Europe they have already "occupied" the market with their fake&cheapy materials exploiting, in that way the weakened economy in most parts of the Europe.

I thought China better than this, my thought about it: they will rather adapt to the technology.
I think they are more interested in developing alternative energy devices as other country's.
Geopolitically they are strongest country with economy and manufacture in the region , Russia don't count because they already under NWO influence and the manufacture and economy of Russia is unbalanced, and general population of Russia can be seen as very poor people.

Ok, let's go back to the original topic, Aaron i know that you IT savvy guy, but isn't best solution when DDOS happend, just to create 3 or 4 mirrors (with scalable bandwidth) on different hosting with different dns names and then inform members via email?
I know that on you forum a lot of members and sending emails would be rather a spam thing, but if you do it only once everybody would be happy.
I hope you know what is the best solution for the problem , but do not forget to inform people if something bad happening, because its just confusing and you start thinking that your own information gone forever and all communication channels are broken and to start it over again i would consider as impossible thing.

Didn't know you maintained the energy science forum, looks like you will have your work cut out for you. That's a shame to hear about Hostgator as I also have been using them for 2-3 years for a couple sites and have been impressed with their customer service. I did check the forums and will corroborate people are ticked about downtime problems that have happened with the new server farm. That said what is still going on with ESF is not a normal problem. 1/2 a day, even a day I could see, but something is screwed. So that leaves to my mind a couple options (maybe there are others). One a random or semi-random event, say a teenager in China pissed that his SSG didn't work (completely off-topic but I remember where a few years back the linux kernal [which also runs the backend transactions for the large banks] was maintained by a dreadlocked teenager from Brazil - still waiting for him to just go in and erase all national and international debts), - or something more directed. Before going on I wouldn't put much emphasis on the "China" angle as 1) Hostgator apparently has changed its story once and 2) if a sophisticated "attack" I suspect someone would know how to spoof, if that is the word, an IP address. or 2a) a "request" to a now large internet provider to have problems with specific sites.

Still, everything said it looks like this might actually be a directed attack on ESF. How cool is that?! No one has been hurt, not even a rap on the knuckles with a ruler. The internet will continue, the ideas there and elsewhere will remain and continue to be discussed and now there has been this James Bond like conspiratorial happening without the James Bond like gun fights. Could make one wonder if there is something worth paying attention to with the sort of stuff Bedini and others are saying. Awesome!
