I saw this article today and it got me thinking

Physicists create water tractor beam

If a waveform in water can attract, repel and cause vortices, could it be done with electromagnetic waves?
What would be attracted, repelled and moved?
Is this something we already can do but is suppressed?

Any thoughts?

If electro magnetic waves are truly waves, then it should be possible to do similar things with them. This interests me. Have you ever seen anything about that?

The thing I have always asked about the Huchinson effect is where is the source of his frequencies in relation to the object that levitate? The objects move straight up, this would make sense if his transmitter was above or below the objects but I believe it was somewhere to the side.

All interesting points.

I have an idea that to use electromagnetic waves to move objects we would need a convergent beam or three beams working together possibly using some sort of interferometry. This way a standing wave could be created and by moving this larger wave backwards or forwards we could manipulate objects. If this larger wave was at the resonant frequency of the object then I am fairly sure that it could have an influence on it.
