I cant find anything about this but I remember it from years ago either from the internet or maybe radio...
I remember it was supposed to be a true story. It was said that there was a great hole of unknown origin in Alaska or Russia, somewhere cold. In the 1800-1900's there was a expedition sent there to find out about the hole. There were layers of wood and woven leaves that had to be broke through to go deeper and deeper something like every 20 feet. The explorers got down like 400 ft and hit ocean water and the exploration was abandoned.
