  • Coming to Know God

Hello all! I'm satur9poet, a newbie to this site and energetic ministries.

You have a VERY interesting site here! My question for everyone is: With your background in science, how did you come to know God? How did you find proof of the existence of the divine? You always hear the viewpoint from the atheistic scientists--I'm interested in hearing the agument from the other side.

I consider myself agnostic and don't adhere to any specific religion. For me it was a lengthy experience going from raised in the Catholic church, to atheism, to strange experiences that make me consider the possibility of God.

Are science and spirituality compatible after all?

      God

      Hi satur9poet!

I don't look at it as coming to know God, but more that I have come to a knowing that I AM GOD! Proof of God was never my intention since as a small child I have had God/I am experiences( the knowing that I am God but not allowed to express it). So I have always known that I KNOW!

What is wonderful is that Science has proved, the Aether that our energies are "swimming" in, is the Infinite Potential that I call God.

In my point of view Spirituality and Science are one and the same! There has not been one Scientist that has not been inwardly inspired (Latin root meaning of inspiration is "of the spirit") by his spirit, his "within", to solve a problem. The insights just come, once asked.

So I know that Science and Spirituality are not only compatible but one and the same.

If you spend some time reading the posts hear on this absolutely fabulous site, you will benefit yourself immensely!! Also a great simple but yet very scientific read is by Aaron Murakami's Synthesis of Matter. You can purchase it from Energetic Science Ministries™ | Energetics

ALSO I AM SO HAPPY YOU ARE HERE!!!

I think I came to know God mostly out of being in situations where I felt helpless.

It seemed a better choice to believe in a higher force at those times.

I also read scripture a lot and find that when I do, things go better than when I don't. It doesn't matter if what I read makes logical sense or not.

I guess that's the proof for me. That and just the feeling is way better when I believe in God.

The God I believe in is pure love.

Every person has his/her own relationship with God. This is why the curtain in the tabernacle was torn in two the moment Jesus died. It had blocked off the area for the high priest only. Now there is no partition.

In fact there never was but people had certain stages in their evolution of understanding God and anything past animalistic survival.

Anytime God is made to look bad, I believe it is the Devil trying to trick people out of their best interest.

I believe Jesus knew how horribly his name would be slandered but went through with his mission with the understanding that some would really get his message.

I believe that there are many people who sometimes allow God to work through them and sometimes allow darkness to work through them.

Now do I literally believe in a Devil? I don't know, but it is simpler to me to think of one God and one Devil than other ways of thinking about it.

Right or wrong about that, it is hard enough to comprehend God so that is why it seems better for me to keep it to one source of all goodness.

          Interesting questions

          Hi satur9poet,

You bring up several very interesting questions.

Science utilizes the scientific method to create a systematized knowledge of an object of study.

          Scientific method is defined as-
principles and procedures for the systematic pursuit of knowledge involving the recognition and formulation of a problem, the collection of data through observation and experiment, and the formulation and testing of hypotheses.

Spirituality is the body of knowledge of things spiritual.

How exciting that we can study things spiritual and create, via the scientific method, a systematized body of knowledge of things spiritual.

Regarding how I came to know God, it is on a personal level and not one the would stand up to the scientific method (at least today).

Regarding how to prove the existence of God or "the divine", this can be proven via the scientific method.

One way is via TRV. This is more involved of a post than I can get into right now. However, the methodology of strict TRV protocols meet most, if not all of the requirements of the scientific method.

Another method that many use to prove the existence of the divine is by calculating the mathematical possibilities of thousands of prophecies being fulfilled. I am not versed in this study, but it appears to stand up to the scientific method.

Common sense tells each individual on the planet that the divine exists, all one has to do is observe nature.

A related subject is covered in the following post regarding the oxymoron of an "open-minded skeptic".

          http://www.energeticforum.com/paths/...d-skeptic.html

I will definitely be visiting this thread again!

            Hi Satur9poet,

I think to get to the heart of anything, science and spirituality are inseparable.

One isolated from the other is an inherent biased viewpoint.

I found God by opening my eyes and seeing that he was looking me in the face...He had been pounding me over the head for years and it was a process of realizing this that has made this life an incredible journey.
            Sincerely,

Science is the study of the creation of this magnificant being the Aimighty God ...

              Welcome to this forum,

Science is actually the study of the creation. So one can and will develop Love to the creator of this perfect balanced universe unless one is blind.

Studying the creation is one way of knowing God, the creator, which hath created everything out of nothing. He has put signs for those who ponder to develop Love towards this being.

I have concluded that life is nothing but living with gratitude and the love of the Almighty and experiencing this love in every level of our being.

Pondering -> Awakening -> Discover the infinite -> Pure Love for the Infinite

These are the steps I see in the evolution of the human being towards his creator.
That is why the governments kill pondering in the first stages of ones life (i.e. school). This will guarantee one could never get free unless starts thinking and questioning again.

                Interesting ?

Very glad you discovered this awesome forum! What you will soon find is you also discovered some really cool people that are even more awesome!

                About the question...

I am an artist, and that is what I have been since I was a small child. Once the adults in my life saw my ability, I was then put on the artist track. By the age of 12 I was studying as an adult under a professional artist, then there was the renouned Caligrapher who I trained under, and adult photography classes, and and and... Through all of that what I loved most was when I was alone with my art supplies, where I could escape to my special world. It was my safe place where I could create anything I wanted to! This is where creativity had no limits, and nobody could tell me how I was supposed to do it. Now don't get me wrong looking back I appreciate the hours spent working on the fundamentals like putting one perfect circle over the first not deviating from the first at all, and then putting ten, twenty, and so on... on top of those. Those hours spent although at the time were monotonous are building blocks that I depend upon now, but still the best times to me is when I can sit in silence and listen to the music of God and create!

So as you are probably figuring out that God has always been an integral part of my being. As an adult I wandered into a church (nothing like what you probably experienced in the Catholic church). This was a Pentecostal Church that Worshiped God by dancing in the isles and singing music that was closer to rock than gospel music. It was a natural fit for me. The prayer services where they laid hands on people, and people would get healed. On a number of occasions I was prayed over and hands laid on me and I went down to the floor (slain in the spirit is what it is called) There I laid on the floor and laughed till I cried (they call it getting drunk in the spirit, trust me much better than any alcohol drunk).

Although I loved God, I found myself later struggling with the church as a whole (not necessarily that first church)... The problem was that their views on marriage did not allow for me an escape from a toxic marriage. The marriage vows I took were more important to the Church than my life! I slowly started to walk away... It was during this time that I started reading books and eventually found my way here, and discovered the science part... Although I am not sure I understand it all, but I do know that for the first time in years I feel safe (I am no longer in the marriage), I have joy in my life (although I am living in temporary housing and starting all over again), I have started to connect again to that special place where as a kid I would escape to (I am drawing and painting again and have a new passion for life).

So how does science and spirituality mix for me? I would say it just confirms what I have known since I was a child. By the way, I was not raised in the church. My parents did not go to church. God was someone I just knew! He was my special place I escaped to. Now I am learning that He is the stuff between my physical matter and I don't have to run to that special place it is always with me, although I still love to work in silence listening to the music of God.

                Love and Gratitude

                  conversion

                  Hi satur9poet,

I guess I'm a throwback to an earlier age. I was raised as a Quaker, without much formal religious training. Became disenchanted with my parents religion. I also, considered myself an agnostic. The only time I spoke in Quaker meeting was to say I didn't see any proof of God's existance and there was nothing in creation that couldn't be explained by evolution. I had always loved science and math, because they were easy for me.

At the age of thirty God sent me a dream. I n the dream I'm in a church with stain glass windows (very unQuaker like). And I'm asking God for proof of his existance. I hold out my hand and a glass appears in my hand and fills with red wine. I hold out my hand again and again the glass appears, fills and I pass it. Five times the glass appears, fills and I pass it. Then two glasses appear and won't fill. At this point I awake from the dream. It was as if I had stepped from the church to my bedroom. The dream remained perfectly clear. I knew I was missing something and I knew the answers were in a Bible that the Quakers had given me before I left them years ago.

Figuring I knew the story of Jesus, because I had seen the movies on TV at Christmas time, I began to read the Bible at the Acts of the Apostles. I read through the entire New Testament to Revelation. Having read to the end, I was no longer sure I knew the story of Jesus. So I went back and read Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. As I read it was as if these four men were each telling me their story of their time on earth with Jesus. I knew that the whole book was true.

I was shocked to find out that this book was not a device to control the masses. It was a love story. Not of a man for a woman or visa-versa. It was a love story about a creator for his creation. A creator who loved me enough be willing to die for to pay for my sins so that I might avoid Hell. The wicked shall be turned into Hell and all nations that forget God. We love him because he first loved us. For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth on him shall never perish. Greater love hath no man but that he lay down his life for his breathren.

It was and is a miracle of the highest magnitude. I prayed that night and asked Jesus to forgive me of my sin and be my Savour and come into my life.
                  AND HE DID!!!

When I awoke the next day the gray clouds had lifted from my life. I felt as if I was walking above the sidewalk. The sky had not been so blue or the trees so green since I was a young child. My heart was free from it's burden because Christ had lifted it from me. I was free from the weight I had been carrying. I hadn't even realized how much it had weighed me down until it was gone. From that time on I was sure there was a God whose name is Jesus and there was no going back.

God didn't come to me through a priest, a prophet, a pastor, a bishop or a minister. I'm not saying he can't, just that he didn't. He didn't come to me through a religion or rite or ritual. I'm not saying he can't, just that he didn't. Not thruogh a Methodist, a Catholic, a Baptist or an Evangelical. He came to me through a dream and his Word. Since then I have seen proof everywhere of his existance. Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Since I have believed His Word, he has given proof over and over and over. Even empirical proof, check out equidistant letter spacing sometimes ELS. The odds are against anyone but God writing the Bible.

                  Welcome to the ENERGETICFORUM,

What a great thread! I now work alongside the Creator with my Theta Healing, and have come to learn there is so much Love for us. Unending love, peace and gratitude! Since I qualified with my Theta Healing, I've spent a great deal of time chatting to Source. It has been the most amazing experience and has clarified so much for me, it was exactly what I needed and was missing and the gap I thought there was between me and the Creator was the single biggest cause of my "problems". I now know that what I learnt from others growing up is simply not true. I also learnt that the Creator is not "he" or "she" but Source and just this small belief has enormous consequences, for example some people especially women have unconscious beliefs that the Creator cannot be trusted because they've been told Source is Male.

I've also learnt that Source was always whispering in my ear, always guiding me but it was MY choice if I listened. I've learnt we agreed as a race to have Free-Will during our time on Planet Earth, and that it's only our belief that there is a Planet Earth that keeps it here!

I've learnt that everything is up for changing, if we so wish it for ourselves, and that the Creator cannot just sweep down and fix it for us as we have free will. Which is exactly how we like it. However, I learnt Source is always available to help and my first work was to simply LISTEN! I was always busy, blocking source by worrying, and rarely giving a few minutes to listening. But hey, it doesn't matter because I had free will not to listen Now I choose to listen because I want to. And that's A-ok with Source (either decision) I've learnt that I'm not here to heal the world (it's amazing how many people go on healing modality courses running that stressful programme!) I'm not responsible for anyone else, I'm not a martyr LOL. I've also learnt through Source every single root belief that was causing my problems and also how to fix them! What to replace them with, how they began, and that if I don't listen to Source telling me it will be shown to me in the physical. There is a law set in place that this happens. Of course, I can still ignore it! I've learnt to ASK for what I want and be specific. Because of free will it is important to be specific. Say what I want. If it's a Soul Mate ask for it in detail and KNOW it is done. That's there's dozens of suitable Soul Mates out there for each of us, not just one! I've learnt every single thing I say or write speaks volumes of my beliefs. To be subtle and notice these things and then change them if I want to. That the creator has set fantastic healing modalities in place for me (us) to utilize and it was never the deal that we come here and have to struggle along alone or without help or these tools. I know that I arranged it so that I would spend a portion of my life not listening to the Creator and I would learn my biggest understandings through these times, and that the rest of my life things would be very different I've also learnt that the Creator is everywhere and I see Source just as much in the eye of a dolphin as I ever did going to Church. Some of the statements I have made, are very obvious, and I say I "knew" this for many years. That's true. But I didn't KNOW it on a very deep level. That is the difference when connected to Source, the understanding is very different. Very solid and Beautiful. I am very glad to say "I have finally come home"! And I didn't have to pass on in order to do it!! I could go on and on, there is so much I've learnt that I am absolutely amazed!

S.J--Did you by any chance read There's a Spiritual Solution to Every Problem by Wayne Dyer? Because your description of "problems" and Source sound exactly like what's in that book! It's a fascinating book if you haven't read it, though.

Thanks all for your wonderful and heartfelt responses It's clear that every one of you has had a powerful and life-changing experience with coming to know God (or whatever you wish to call it). I believe that for the past 3 months, my life has taken a different direction because I'm suddenly being bombarded with references/answers to some of my deepest questions about the nature of human existence. I've spent years trying to figure things out and nothing came...now things are starting to fall into place without me struggling to dig up the anwsers.
