Many years ago, Jennifer Lawson Phd. wrote in Nexus magazine about how flows of solar flux controlled and created weather, volcanoes and earthquakes. If I recall correctly, John Bedini wrote that the Earth is a homopolar motor driven by the sun,,, via the Birkeland currenct, I presume. Recently, Piers Corbyn has done excellent weather predictions based on plasma flows between various bodies in the solar system.
There is a new guy who looks directly at sunspots and solar activity to predict weather and quakes. He has a good record for accuracy;

Reportedly, the earth is semi-solid to liquid. I suppose current changes to our "motor" would create stresses.
