  • Rapture date set by group

Just saw Harold Camping say on his Bible call in show that his International radio ministry has determined 5-21-11 as the rapture event date

Interesting from a group as conservative as Family Radio

    Hey Woody;

I'm don't know who H. Camping is or who his listeners are, but I can't imagine how they came up with a certain date for the rapture. I would agree it's near from the signs Jesus said to look for, but setting dates shows they must be ignorant of scripture.

Matt. 24:36 "But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only."

Also, anyone familiar with the books of Daniel, Isaiah,Jeremiah, Ezekiel & Revelations would know if that date were correct The Anti-Christ would be running the world and he would have brought peace between the Jews and the Arabs so the Jewish temple could be re-built on The Temple Mount in Jerusalem.

This does not seem to make sense.

After much study in the subject of the "end times" scholars still do not agree on when the physical second coming of Christ will be.

Some say it would happen BEFORE the tribulation...these people are referred to as Pre-trib in their beliefs.

Some say it will happen in the MIDDLE of the tribulation...these people are referred to as Mid-trib in their beliefs.

Some say it will happen at the End of the tribulation...these people are referred to as Post-trib in their beliefs.

And then there are is the Pan-trib group.

These people believe "it will all Pan out in the end".

Hi Kevin, always nice to hear from you. `

Yes, unfortunatly there are all kinds of so-called "scholars" around. I recently saw a Professor of Divinity at Harvard make the statement that if Jesus was with us today He would attend services at a synagogue as that was where He would feel most comfortable!

Pan-trib's? Loved it, but anyone who is anything but pre-trib. doesn't know their bible.

In I Thessalonians 4:16-18 Paul tells us of the rapture, how we will not know the exact time and what to do in the meantime.
In II Thess. 2 he picks up the event again. In chapter 2, vs. 3-12 he writes more about Anti-Christ and his coming.Verses 6-8 say "And now ye know
what withholdeth that he(Anti-Christ) might be revealed in his time. For the mystery of iniquity doth already work; only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way. And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming." ( Use "restrain" for withholdeth, use "evil" for iniquity and "hinders" for letteth and it's clearer.)
What restrains the "mystery of lawlessness" is a person(he).Since a mystery always involves a supernatural element the (he) can only be the Holy Spirit in the church which is to be "taken out of the way". As the Holy Spirit lives in the Christians(the church)he and they are gone before the Anti-Christ is revealed.

Once revealed, he has a 7 year reign. In the middle of the 7 years he double-crosses the Jews and profanes the temple(which has been re-built) by ascending the throne there-in and declaring himself to be God.
That's when the 3 1/2 years known as "The Great Tribulation" begins.

Therefore, if the date of 5-21-11 was correct Anti-Christ would be running the world, the temple in Jerusalem re-built, and we would be in "The Great Tribulation". I don't think so!!!

Hi Jessica, always nice to hear from you too.

Thanks for the video link. It's good as far as the comments on the Anti-Christ. I also believe he is alive and walking the earth today. My comments had to do with date setting as I explained to Kevin.

Christians will not be here when Anti-Christ is revealed as the Holy Spirit and the true church are taken out in the rapture previously. As Paul wrote "For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ".(I Thess. 5:9.)
