Hi all. I came up with this idea for a humane fly trap. I catch around 20 flies a day in it and just release them outside.
Just get a small or medium jar and cut a hole in the top. Make stiff paper into a cone shape and stick the small end in the hole so that it seals it well enough so that there are no escapees.
I use wet cat food inside.
If you are going to try it, make sure to release the flies and change the trap food at least once a day (they reproduce very quickly). Also, make sure the trap is dry and do not use anything sticky as it can get on their wings and make them unable to function properly.
