  • G-20

I had posted in another thread about how the G-20 is being held at some very green sites here right now.

Here's some more info on that:

    - kdka.com

    YouTube - Pittsburgh's G-20 Gems: Green Buildings

Also there is a lot of prayer going on regarding the G-20 and I welcome anyone who wants to to send some good vibes.

Many are praying that the Christian Community of Greater Pittsburgh – and beyond - will surround this event with prayer; congregation by congregation, organization by organization, individual by individual; each of us following the leading of the Holy Spirit and doing our part, much the same way that the Jews of Nehemiah’s day rebuilt the wall of Jerusalem.

There will be 40 hours of continuous prayer throughout the G-20 Summit, 40 days of prayer and fasting leading up to the meeting, and many other prayer gatherings taking place.

    Prayer Points

    • GODLY WISDOM - for all decisions

    • GODLY ADVISORS - such as Daniel for all participants

    • CLARITY in understanding the issues and their full impact

    • DISCERNMENT – of all motives and intents

    • STEWARDSHIP – of our nation and the world

    • RIGHTEOUSNESS

    • INTEGRITY – among all parties and in the media’s coverage of the events

    • PEACE AND PROTECTION for the city of Pittsburgh and surrounding areas

    • That the world would see something unique in Pittsburgh – the Spirit of the Living God.

    • That hearts would be turned to Christ

    • Any other issues that the Holy Spirit places on your heart

Cool! Maybe it will have a powerful impact like the intention experiments done towards the Washington D.C. crime rate.

Today was pretty good. The police were very respectful to demonstrators who were peaceful.

They let Greenpeace people hang from a sign calling for carbon emission capping, itself hanging from a major downtown bridge for 3 hours so they could get their message across. Those arrested downtown wanted to be arrested and it was peaceful.

There were some scuffles from a group which included some self proclaimed anarchists who gathered in a park, started walking downtown, and then broke a few windows in a neighborhood near me. The police stopped them from going closer to downtown. Then they chased small groups of them around a few other close neighborhoods where there were a few more broken windows and standoffs but it could have been a lot worse.

Again your prayers and good vibes are more than and much appreciated.

Anarchists, or university students? Watch and decide...

Video From G20 the Corporate Media Will Never Show You

"Later that night [Thursday, September 24], hundreds of officers surrounded what was mostly a large gathering of University of Pittsburgh students in the city's Oakland neighborhood. The area was adjacent to where G-20 participants opened the summit, but leaders were long gone by the time police declared the gathering illegal and fired canisters of pepper spray and smoke. Civil liberties groups decried what they called a heavy-handed and unwarranted police response to the Thursday protests. They complained that riot officers focused on largely peaceful, if unsanctioned, demonstrations when they should have been paying more attention to small groups of vandals that smashed windows of city businesses." - MSNBC

Yes isn’t that interesting? I had heard about that and made a special effort to see what our local newspaper would have to say about it. Not much. Nor was there any mention that the military was assisting the police. Which is totally in violation of the constitution. But I guess that is not important.

All that was mentioned was some windows were broken and then the police stepped in to disperse the protesters.

Question who broke the windows? Was it the protesters or undercover police as a means for justifying the removal of the protesters?

            Hey haters,

Can you start your own hate thread please?

I had other intentions for this one.

We will probably never know for sure, and as far as I know they have not released the identification of those resposible for property damage. It is said, however, that there was a total of $50,000 in property damage, and that just one person was the culprit in smashing $20,000 worth of windows at a bank. How long do you suppose it would take one person to cause that amount of damage, and why didn't the police stop that person after the first window was broken? It's not as if there weren't enough police and guardsmen to handle the situation, as they outnumbered the amount of protesters present, the vast majority of which were peacefully demonstrating. Instead of focusing their efforts on the few who were unruly, police used tear gas, rubber bullets, and a high frequency sound cannon against peaceful protesters, and also cracked many of them over the head with their billy clubs, according to news reports. Welcome to Pittsburgh!

I see no words of hate, or incitement to hate, being posted here. Does anyone else? Not even one mean spirited remark, other than perhaps your own labeling of others as "haters" simply because they disagree with your perception of events in your home town of Pittsburgh, and present fact based arguments contrary to your reporting on these events. As I see it, when someone posts a version of a historic event that does not hold up under scrutiny, others who have knowledge about the subject matter have a right, and actually somewhat of an obligation, to refute that story so that others who do not have this knowledge will not be misguided by the statements originally made. If you don't care to welcome such responses, then please check the facts and choose your wording more carefully before making such posts. If you only want to allow comments that reflect your own understanding or opinion, I would suggest that you start a Yahoo forum thread rather than an open public discussion thread here. That way you can screen all comments and only allow the ones that agree with you to be posted. You could even post a link in this thread so that those who would follow you would know where to go. I hope this suggestion is of some help and consolation to you.

                Best wishes,

                Rick
