Dear POTUS, It’s been hard watching so many maligning you the past four years, and the twisting lies got so much worse after the election. We thought there was so much fake info going around before, now it’s exponential.



We recognize that no-one has put more of themselves on the line than you and your family. You laid everything down for this time. So we thank you for standing firm all this time in the lonely place of ultimate leadership where responsibility and authority must meet. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for taking the risks you have to sort this all out. We miss you at the moment, the lively pressers, the speeches, we acutely feel your required distance, yet we know you are close in spirit, active, doing righteousness and justice. And we know you sense the unity of spirit of all your people.



Stresses on families and friendships remain, but at the same time, your movement - our movement - has grown not only larger, but also deeper and there is now a fulsome sense of standing together for something so much greater than we knew possible 3 or 4 years ago. So many disparate people drawn together, held in relationship, a sort of united tension, bonded by a divine hope and a dream that seems too good to be true.



Thank you for your constant relentless coms which have been awesome. So much has fluttered past us unrealized, but we see through that glass darkly too. We look forward to much more of your visible leadership of the free world. The amount of exposure coming, we know is unimaginable to many, but God has also used you to expose the hearts of everyone in the movement. We have all been faced up to our own reactions to The Great Awakening. That has been a painful but necessary process. Now we will help everyone else get through the same, as you have asked us.



As we turn this ultimate corner knowing only some of what you have to deal with, and holding the many theories on how things will unfold now, we pray for you to have shalom wholeness, joy unspeakable and laughter breaking through in serendipitous moments. We ask the Lord to protect you and your family and make His face shine upon you! Bless you in all ways possible.

Former Adelaide Archbishop dies two years after cleared of concealing child sex abuse

The Catholic Church is mourning the death of former Adelaide Archbishop Philip Wilson, who died two years after being cleared of concealing child sex abuse.
Archbishop of Brisbane Mark Coleridge said on Twitter that Emeritus Archbishop Wilson, 70, had died unexpectedly on Sunday afternoon.
The cause of death remains unknown.
Emeritus Archbishop Wilson became the highest ranking Catholic in the world convicted of concealing child sex abuse.
He was accused of not alerting authorities to the crimes of pedophile priest Jim Fletcher in the Hunter Valley in the 1970s.
After four months of home detention he was cleared on appeal with a magistrate finding doubts he had been told about the abuse.
He stepped down as Archbishop shortly before his sentence was quashed.
Peter Gogarty, a survivor of Fletcher's abuse, says the death of Emeritus Archbishop Wilson is a lost opportunity.
"Philip Wilson could have done a lot to repair a lot of the damage to victims by saying look we did have policy of child abuse, that was a horrendous thing to do," Mr Gogarty said.
"That never happened, and I think that is the missed opportunity."
Those close with him hope Emeritus Archbishop Wilson will be remembered for his reforms and victim advocacy, rather than the allegations he became embroiled in.
A mass was held today at Adelaide's St Francis Xavier's Cathedral, which Emeritus Archbishop Wilson led for 18 years, to mark his passing.
"I honour his work which he's done for god and for the church and for the people," Brenda, a parishioner at the mass, told 9News.
Church leaders will meet tomorrow to discuss funeral arrangements which will largely depend on the impact of COVID travel restrictions on family members in New South Wales.
