There seems to be a wide range of readership here, that goes from extreme to extreme. What this post is about is a Theory Of Everything that puts those two points and everything in between under the umbrella of one model.
My Big TOE by Tom Campbell is a book that is a model which puts forth that Consciousness is the lager reality and the reality that we all know and exist in, the physical reality, is a derivative reality. Thus Science which is of this reality and deals with physical causality can never explain any more than the world of matter. Put another way Consciousness is the superset and the physical reality is the subset.
The theory is at a high level of abstraction and all that is presently known as paranormal and supernatural can be derived from it.
I have done some keyword searches on the board and see discussion of binaural beat mp3's. Tom's history with them:
From the synopsis:
I am presently reading the book, but my initial exposure was the first London presentation of which a link is provided at the books home page. Also there are many youtube video's and there is also a forum.

The effects of binaural beats on consciousness were first examined by physicist Thomas Campbell and electrical engineer Dennis Mennerich, who under the direction of Robert Monroe sought to reproduce a subjective impression of 4Hz oscillation that they associated with out-of-body experience.[5] On the strength of their findings, Monroe created the binaural-beat technology self-development industry by forming The Monroe Institute, now a charitable binaural research and education organization.
