  • Media blackout in Grand Louisiana??

I have been reading all over the internet that there is a huge Media blackout in Grand Louisiana and that anyone with a camera is being arrested. Apparently, all hotels within a 70 mile radius are "sold out" and no one can get near to whatever is going on.

Is there anyone on this forum from that area that can verify this? I don't neccessarily trust everything I read on the net.
    Namaste,

This area may also be called Grand Isle, Louisiana.

      Hi Pam

According to some Facebook "friends" who live in the area and have posted about it, it is indeed true that Grand Isle is now a "closed" area by order of the US government, and that a FEMA pass of some kind is required to enter... So as for "civilians", only the Residents of the island are being let through.

By land, apparently there is only the one causeway road in or out, so it is easy for them to do this.

No one's really sure why they went to this extreme, it does not appear to be only about stopping journalists from filming the beaches there (after all, there are now HUNDREDS OF MILES of similarly polluted beaches... more every day. It could be that they have set up some kind of FEMA "headquarters" there; and are nervous about letting the world see how BP is really running the show.

BP had to back-off their draconian and totally illegal "order" demanding no one photograph the polluted beaches (because they were caught by an ABC news crew on camera doing this which was a huge embarrassment to the government who had no plausible explanation, so later simply denied it LOL ), and have instead now focused on doing whatever they can to keep the horrible images out of the MSM using "other means".

Regarding that above incident... I linked about it several places 2 weeks ago, and went back four days later, and saw that Huffington Post

CHANGED THE STORY SINCE IT WAS ORIGINALLY PUBLISHED.

This is completely irregular and unethical in Journalism... The "Record" must always stand. But they did certainly change the original story to add government apologist non-sense about it being "all wrong" and being "investigated" ... as we can see below.

The important difference here, as all journalists know, is that even if a story were proved "wrong", it must remain intact, and ALL NEW stories be published. All "retractions" are ALWAYS handled this way, the original story never touched. And in this case, with video and eyewitnesses being 100% proof to back it, there is no question that the story was completely accurate.... Just highly embarrassing.

This manipulation of original news stories after the fact was an extraordinary event, and i am apparently the only one on the 'web who even caught and mentioned it. I wrote to Huffington Post about it, and of course they did not reply

Here is the article in question.

BP, Coast Guard Officers Block Journalists From Filming Oil-Covered Beach (VIDEO)

You CANNOT "UPDATE" AN ARTICLE THAT HAS ALREADY BEEN PUBLISHED!!

Any new info must be put in an all new article.

This goes to show, jut how much power these people have.... Normally, this little event in itself would be highly "newsworthy" in its own right, as it breaks important tenets of Journalistic Integrity.
