  • Ammo Ban Coming?

EPA was considering a ban of Lead in ammo and was going to accept public input until a decision in Oct. 2010, (when Halloween?), just before the election?

Anyway we saw some prices jump overnight and became concerned ourselves, yet something happen.............

I never understood this complaint in the first place. Nearly all bullets sold to the Public are jacketed (or, with shotgun shells, "encased" within the plastic shell); thus the lead exposure would be very limited, no? Its not like people but their boxes of ammo out on the dinner table, lol.

Indeed this was just a gun grab by limiting ammo. Looking at who partitioned for a ruling one would get the idea that both domestic and wild animal were eating this stuff by the car load and of course expiring from it.

Myself I am not sure we have heard the end to this. With the puppet running the country he just may try his favorite back door and issue an executive (no pun intended) order giving the EPA the power.

Anyway they are dead in the water - polymer plastic looks like a great replacement and the weight can be supplemented so there no charge changes required.

There is good news the EPA rejected the petition.

Regardless obviously we don’t want all this nasty lead polluting our environment, do we?
So lets use something that's more environmentally friendly like depleted uranium.

Just how are we supposed to get all this lead out of the environment? And just were did all this lead come from in the first place?

Regarding the toxicity of lead consider this. In Chicago most of the older buildings were connected to the city water mains with lead pipe. Yet there is no push to go in and have them replaced. But if you cannot use lead based solder on copper pipes as the hair line seam at each joint will expose the water to way too much lead.

Yes lead can be dangerous and obviously needs to be treated with respect but the unrestrained bureaucratic mind is way far more dangerous and this should/must be tightly controlled.
