Hi Aaron,
The one link you provided was dead but the other went to a right wing bible thumper who, let's face it has a vested interest in whipping up hysteria in this election year.

Wanting to be methodical I read his article and then looked the bill over. It appears to me a conservation bill directed toward reducing negative environmental impacts as a result of urban sprawl and and improving living conditions for lower income families and urbanites which if you consider the cost of living in San Francisco, L.A. and many other major cities, is exorbitant. This administration has never made a secret out of it's desire to reduce greenhouse emissions, reliance on fossil fuels and improvement of living conditions for the lower class. I saw nothing there about "forcing" anything but welcome the input if I'm mistaken.

The purposes of this Act are--
(1) to facilitate and improve the coordination of housing, community development, transportation, energy, and environmental policy in the United States;
(2) to coordinate Federal policies and investments to promote sustainable development;
(3) to encourage regional planning for livable communities and the adoption of sustainable development techniques, including transit-oriented development;
(4) to provide a variety of safe, reliable transportation choices, with special emphasis on public transportation and complete streets, in order to reduce traffic congestion, greenhouse gas emissions, and dependence on foreign oil;
(5) to provide affordable, energy-efficient, and location-efficient housing choices for people of all ages, incomes, races, and ethnicities, and to make the combined costs of housing and transportation more affordable to families;
(6) to support, revitalize, and encourage growth in existing communities, in order to maximize the cost effectiveness of existing infrastructure and preserve undeveloped lands;
(7) to promote economic development and competitiveness by connecting the housing and employment locations of workers, reducing traffic congestion, and providing families with access to essential services;
(8) to preserve the environment and natural resources, including agricultural and rural land and green spaces; and
(9) to support public health and improve quality of life for the residents of and workers in communities by promoting healthy, walkable neighborhoods, access to green space, and the mobility to pursue greater opportunities.

Hi Ingram,

I don't know. I'm just posing it as a question but my default mode is to
not trust any bill that is proposed no matter what it is until it is very clear,
which most aren't.

Besides the actual thomas.gov type display, the only other sites I saw are
the obvious conservative websites. I didn't see any from the other side.

I'm all for conservation as long as it is by choice.

Heh, fair enough my man.
I tend to agree with that to a large degree, I feel like we (the public) are being legislated to death in the interest of "others" who shall remain nameless (multinationals & bankers ).

After observing the Rove/Bush tactic of whipping the right into a frenzy over nonsense such as gay marriage or abortion I'm afraid I'm cynical and probably a bit hypersensitive to the rights extremist methods.
