  • HBGary Execs Run For Cover As Hacking Scandal Escalates - Andy Greenberg - The Firewall - Forbes
Every cent they ever earned, they're going to lose in civil litigation and damages. I love that, the idea that by setting out to profit from dishonesty, they've destroyed themselves financially.

I just hope the people going after the HBGary execs don't forget to save a bit of wrath for the scumbags who hired them, because really, they're the organisations and institutions the world would be a better place without.

After all, who decides ordinary citizens are a security threat who need to be searched and groped at domestic airports? Who recommends people they don't agree with should be the target of special agents who harrass and detain journalists at airports? Paranoid, misguided, sociopathic grubs like Aaron Barr, that's who. And they need to learn there's harsh and dire consequences for selling out your fellow man, especially when all he's doing is speaking up for your fellow man.

The leaked campaign to attack WikiLeaks and its supporters - Glenn Greenwald - Salon.com

Seriously, if you guys could get interested and organised enough to take your government back from the wall street leeches, that'd be great.

Why do I feel like I'm talking to a brick wall? It's ok, communists won't take over and eat your babies if you get these capitalist criminals out of power, promise. That's their lie, that they use to keep you afraid enough to keep them in power. Which part of massive conspiracy and blatant manipulation by fearmongering don't you understand?

Even i do think that the Wall Street is a big Snake,
and hard to cut this Head, beside its going to be useless, and it do more looks like a big Betting Office as the Market where you can compare Stocks.
And actually i think something like a stock market is a useless thing.
And they start at Ebay with this also and this Powerseller,
what buy cheap and try to sell the same Stuff with a gain.
But remove this Guys from there is maybe like take a Baby his Milkbottle away.

All the Things about wikileaks are very strange, what do happen there,
and not sure what the Result will be from that all.
But i can see that a lot Persons try to do damage limitation.

Understanding what's going on and changing it are two entirely different things. Americans are by and large apathetic at this point in our country's evolution. The majority are happy to be greedy and selfish as they have been taught to be. Merely trying to show them the error of their actions seems to be futile. Don't expect "us/US" to "get interested and organized enough to take our government back" any time soon... We have Biebers to watch!

Some hbgary news, some wiki news. The so called good guys in government and law enforcement just keep looking more and more evil the more we learn about how they work, don't they? No wonder they hate people who expose them for what they really are. Don't tell them, hate only poisons the hater.

Mid level technical review of how anons penetrated the security of a company who sells computer security products and services to the DoJ, BoA, DEA, and others. Hardly magic, just exploitation of well known weaknesses in many computer systems, holes you'd expect experts to have plugged and bit of HBGary's own MO, malicious social engineering.

How kind of these anons to engage in full transparency, detailing the methods they used so openly and honestly to allow full press scrutiny.

                • WikiLeaks row intensifies as US makes 'privacy' move against Twitter | Media | The Guardian

Civil rights lawyers fight US Dept of Justice order to reveal Twitter accounts linked to WikiLeaks – on the same day Hillary Clinton praises role of social networks in promoting freedom.

One of the people targeted in the order is a minister of Icleland's (sovereign) government. Another is an american journalist and technology expert who's been detained without charge and had his electronic devices confiscated the last two time's he's re-entered the US. And Clinton talks about freedom?

                  oh please.

What is the leaker's bias and/or agenda? Is their information legit? Who's agenda does it most evidently serve? Can it be verified? HOW IS IT RECEIVED BY OFFICIAL CHANNELS?

Now, the "leaks" from Curveball (my what a coincidentally accurate psudeonym you have, grandma...) suited the official agenda at the time so wonderfully, it's no surprise it was taken as gospel. But when the government doesn't like what's been leaked (by someone like, say, Manning,) their reaction is entirely different. Oh we all see that, and we all understand the reactions, let's not pretend we don't. But do you notice as well, just how hostile a government that so willingly and openly will accept a mistruth will turn to attack the truth?

I'm not sure any of us anywhere ever voted for that.

DN! EXCLUSIVE: US Authorities Search and Copy U.S. Journalist's Notes, Computer and Cameras After Returning from Haiti

I don't get it. For a country that's so morally opposed to communism, why are you so at ease with totalitarianism and fascism? The level of harassment and oppression shown towards anyone who's even remotely critical of the US beggars belief. But you know what I think is most wrong about this picture? The people behind this repression and sense of superiority and authority over their fellow man have access to nuclear and biological weapons. That's just insane.

I predict a sudden decrease in the numbers of Beliebers in America once word of his views on healthcare become public.

                        • Well, he is a little off on his observation. I've never been broke because of medical bills and I'm reaching the upper limits of the average life expectancy. I just threw him out there because he's being widely broadcast on all of the mainstream media programs here lately. I was just using him as an example of what people are paying attention to instead of what they should be paying attention to. We are much more concerned about being entertained with vacuous Paris Hilton/American Idol/Biggest Loser/Jerry Springer type shows than about healthcare, government usurption of our rights, Egypt overthrowing their corrupt government, Manning (and plenty of others) being held against his constitutional rights, etc.

                          • It's all good Bill who cares what Justin Beiber thinks he thinks, he's still learning to think.

The apathy is hardly a uniquely American problem though. Seriously sometimes I see people I'm friends with engrossed with equally vapid topics and concerns, and it's all I can to stop myself from crash tackling them, grabbing them by the lapels and shaking them while shouting "DON'T YOU UNDERSTAND THERE'S BIGGER THINGS TO WORRY ABOUT?"

Big part of why I meditate, right there... anger management isn't my problem, I manage the anger well enough, the problem is, I care about things that would make anyone angry, and I can't seem to stop caring, so I keep getting angry. What's a guy to do...

Anyway, if the masses want to sleep through the revolution, let them I guess. Revolution shouldn't require masses, what's that quote again, about never doubting a small, committed group of individuals can change the world? I'm looking for the sleepers. I'm whispering into the ears of the people who're almost ready to wake up, almost ready to be angry, and manage that anger positively by becoming active.

I saw something else about that speech that SECRETary of State Clinton gave about freedom and people's rights to free speech and how important the internet was to spreading democracy.

Did you know, while she gave that speech a man was being arrested and being dragged outside of THE VERY SAME ROOM SHE WAS SPEAKING IN by campus rent-a-cops for the crime of standing with his back turned to Clinton in SILENT PROTEST?

Hillary Clinton Talks Freedom as Protester Ray McGovern Is Bloodied | Civil Liberties | AlterNet

Clinton demonstrated her own hypocrisy and profound disregard for those rights by saying and doing nothing while the 71 year old protester was grabbed by campus police, pulled to the ground, and dragged out of the auditorium. McGovern remained silent until just before he was pulled through the auditorium doors; then, bloodied, bruised & arrested, he screamed, “This is America?”
Seriously guys, you're allowed to write to this woman and give her what for. She's a public SERVENT. She works for YOU. YOU pay her wages. It's time at least a few of her masters (ie, just a few of the 300 or so million people in the US, ie the public,) grew a backbone and called her to task, if you ask me. Stay silent and it's only going to continue to get worse.

                            • infecting my netbook with an eight month old virus to go looking for information only and idiot would have on their computer doesn't make your country less of a police state.

Whoever is trying to datamine me thinks I'm as dumb as they are, if this is the best they can do. So I'll save them the trouble. The netbook was brought for cash in a store in Rockhampton, as the MAC id on the network hardware will tell you. Dead end there. The software is licensed to Brian Westlake, which is a false name. Another dead end. I don't do any netbanking on any computer, never use the same credit card twice online (they're prepaid, brought with cash from a store that has no cameras in it, and used with the name "gift certificate." The delivery address I use for online purchases is a workshop and arts studio collective leased by 12 people. one of them is an aquaintence of mine. Another dead end. The webcam has a square of electrical tape over it, the microphone has had the positive power cable physically disconnected and if you think I'm stupid enough to have any phone numbers, addresses or family contact details stored anywhere on the computer I use to surf the net, you're an even bigger idiot than I thought you were. Basically, you're not going to get anything, because I've left nothing to get.

I'm going to keep your silly old trojan from last year, to show to my mates while we laugh about how utterly easy it is to subvert almost all the methods that can be used to track or identify a person online. Kind of like a souvenier of your woefully inept attempt to get a look into my life. I volunteer more information than you'll be able to steal. You suck at your job.

PS, if my MAC address changes a few times over the coming days, to suprising things like the computer the trojan called back to, or a match for your ISP's switch, that's just me waving at you.

                              • Just popped in to excercise my democratic right to free speech by saying goodnight to the thread for the evening. And to gloat about still being online, and make fun of how completely ineffective the efforts to keep me offline are.

I do bare metal rebuilds for FUN. A couple of weeks ago I stayed online in spite of the entire region being blacked out for four days and the telephone exchanges being flooded. If a cat 5 cyclone can't impinge on my ability to excercise my right to freedom of speech and maintain an online presence, what makes you think a scripted bios hack can? You need to understand, I don't take my computers to anyone to get them fixed. People bring their computers to ME. There's nothing you can do I can't work around, but it's amusing as all get out to watch someone try. Not to mention educational. Careful you don't use any of your best dirty tricks now, as I'll be disseminating the details of the attacks and their workarounds to all the attacks I sustain on /b/, so others can replicate them if they get some commie wannabe grub trying to bump them offline for whatever silly reason motivates you.
