FACEBOOK is HACKED!

Hey everyone,

A LOT of accounts have been broken into including some of my friends.
Different messages are sent to their friend list acting like it is them and
mentioning vids, pics, etc... when clicking on the link, it may direct you
to a page to enter a name/pw looking like a facebook page but it is NOT.

Pay attention to the domain name in the browser - even if it looks like a
facebook domain, DO NOT ENTER YOUR INFO.

I'm getting this from multiple people - so some hackers have access to
people's username/pw's right now and are causing a stir. Just fyi!

I know this occasionally happens but this is happening to more than a
few people at this very moment.

Facebook's not the most secure place to be at the best of times. And in terms of how many threat vectors are wide open and being exploited right now, and how overtaxed the computer crimes taskforces are around the world at the moment, these are not the best of times.

With the amount of, well, to coin a phrase, technological civil disobedience that's going on, the only way to describe the online landscape this week is akin to a riot. The police are overtaxed, crowds of people are setting fires to shop fronts and the back alleys, the looters are going nuts.

There are activists who use computer networks in nefarious ways, then there are flat out criminals looking for any financial gain they can wrangle. Add to that the virtual armies of rather bright teens and young adults who're nothing more than online vandals. All three of these groups, and the government are running amok on each other on the internet right now. I'm really glad I don't have a facebook account right now though.

The smart thing to do is for the moment, assume your PC is going to become corrupted. Just take it as a given, and back up everything you have that matters onto a USB drive, spare hard drive or whatever storage media you use. Disconnect it and put it in a drawer. Then, assume your personal online data is about to be either compromised or deleted, and clean or back it up, if you have anything to clean, or anything important you could lose if say hotmail's servers were compromised and data was erased.

Then, having backed up everything, and having cleaned up any personal info that's just a bit too personal, don't worry about it. There's not a lot most of us can do but see what happens next.

Facebook/CIA desperately want more of my e-mail addresses and my mobile phone number, for my security of course. It's the same "reminder" EVERY time I log in, it's the first page I see and there's no way to get rid of it unless I give up my details, which I have no intention of giving up because I don't care if facebook is secure or not. As far as I'm concerned, the security threat is giving my details to THEM. I'm not safer by giving it to them, what kind of silly reverse logic are they trying to pull.

So I wouldn't be at all surprised if it's all done deliberately from the inside. The other possibility is that people have added applications they shouldn't have, and they have not been "hacked" at all, it's just the application posting things because the user did not bother to read before allowing it to do so.

Unless they have gotten more clever in recent weeks.

Just a note, there is also a notice that is poping up in windows saying that a group of virus's have attacked your computer, it looks very official and lists like seven different virus and asks you to download protection from microsft when a window pops up, but the site it is coming from does not have a verified signing....just close it don't authorize it to download. It happened to me just last week...

I noticed some privacy message last time I opened Face book, but all seems to be fine. There have not been any messages sent out by anyone other than me.
