wow. some raw footage that really shows you the destructive power of the brisbane floods.
YouTube - Flood Chaos In Australia As Water Swamps Brisbane
Bare in mind that's not the flash flood, that's the floodwater a day later as it's flowing downstream towards the ocean. I leave you guys with one last video of the actual flash flooding from yesterday upstream from Brisbane, before it gets turned into the unofficial #qldfloods thread.

Don't worry about us aussies, we look after our own and we're always at our best in a crisis. Think about Brazil, if you're in the US and you want to contribute to flood relief, help those guys.

Brazil just got a month's rain in a day. 250 dead in flash floods and landslides there. This beggars belief.

Video: Tug Under Bridge
it wasn't three hundred feet long, that piece of debris I mentioned, my mistake. 300 meters. so around 900 feet. Check out the lone tug boat driver guiding it safely under the bridge, then steering (ramming) it away from boats and moorings once it's passed the bridge. Thrilling stuff, and that tug captains a champ.
Update, three more states are experiencing flash flooding today, south australia, victoria and tasmania have all suffered freak rainstorms and flash flooding. This will be like recovering from a war, they're already predicting total economic fallout in this state be around 20 billion in lost agriculture and infrastructure, plus the massive, massive relief and cleaning and rebuilding efforts that will take weeks, maybe months to complete.Last edited by noises; 01-13-2011, 02:12 AM.

found these photos via twitter.
Photo at the top is the river at 2:30pm. The photoigrapher snapped it because they'd never seen the river up so high.
The photo under that of the same pool area, looking across the same river (note location of fence) was taken a 3:45, just over an hour later. The position where both these photos were taken from would have been several meters underwater at the flood's peak last night.

speaking again about those floods, which are now effecting the extreme south of the state and crossing into northern New South Wales,
A 5.5m wall of water has come thundering down the Brisbane river, through the town after town before it hit the state capital. 10 are dead, 90 are missing, due to the rapidly waters rose from the extreme rain storms upstream. Two days ago, there was no sign of the rain that brought these floods.
The area of this state now underwater is larger than Germany and France combined, there's also large parts of the next state immediately south going under as the rain keeps coming down.
This bit of video shows the speed and volume of the water coursing down through the state capital. It's truly incredible to see. Search youtube for "brisbane 11/1/11 Flood" to see even more truly awe inspiring footage of the actual floods, (including a 330 foot long floating walkway being guided by tugboats past a 500 foot tall bridge, without hitting the supports, or $400,000 yachts on broken away drydocks wiping out on low bridges upstream.

After posting this earlier, I was reading a different one of the free ebooks I've found and noticed this segment which seemed appropriate to the turn this thread has taken.
"Apart altogether from any question of development through a medium, there is another and much more frequently exercised influence which may seriously retard a disembodied entity on his way to the heaven-world, and that is the intense and uncontrolled grief of his surviving friends or relatives. It is one among many melancholy results of the terribly inaccurate and even irreligious view that we in the West have for centuries been taking of death, that we not only cause ourselves an immense amount of wholly unnecessary pain over this temporary parting from our loved ones, but we often also do serious injury to those for whom we bear so deep an affection by means of this very regret which we feel so acutely.
When our departed brother is sinking peacefully and naturally into the unconsciousness which precedes his awakening amid the glories of the heaven-world, he is too frequently aroused from his dreamy happiness into vivid remembrance of the earth-life which he has lately left, solely by the action of the passionate sorrows and desires of his friends on earth, which awaken corresponding vibrations in his own desire-body, and so cause him acute discomfort."

There are plenty of sources of information that can easily be found for free all over the internet that provide proof, unequivocal proof if taken as a whole, that we are eternal beings. Many thousands of scientifically conducted experiments have been done over the past hundred plus years that conclusively prove continuation of consciousness beyond the barrier we call death.
If we are all eternal and have all existed for billions of years why do none of us know it?
Some of us do know it and have been trying as hard as we/they can to let everybody else know about it, too. If we choose to ignore them, who is to blame?
Maybe to re-live, re-experience everything we have already experienced but to still experience it for the first time? If so, i imagine everyone would be paranoid of death or harm being as they have "never" experienced it before.
We are paranoid because we have been taught to be paranoid. We have learned that we can be harmed and that death is to be feared. The programming is all around us. We are constantly being bombarded by it. Our minds dwell on it. We are busy imagining the worst scenarios and playing them out in our minds. If we are diligent, it is fairly easy (given all the years of programming that need to be undone) to reprogram ourselves for gratitude, love, and joy and to find peace in our eternal nature. We have no reason for paranoia in reality. It's just something we made up.
Personally i do believe we are all eternal and i dont fear death, i just fear the sorrow my loved ones would feel for my death. Even though i know in reality pain and mourning is just another part of life that everyone is meant to experience, otherwise none of us would die or grow old in this life.
On the other hand, I could go to pieces as society has taught me that the most devastating thing that can happen to a person is to lose their child. It's so horrible to lose someone you love so much. Depression, suicidal thoughts, weeks of crying and neglecting my other loved ones to wallow in my self-pity could all be reactions to this event.
Most likely I would be affected most by the pain those others that were/are close to him would be suffering. I don't fear that emotional pain and I most likely won't resist much my feeling of that pain as it is a part of this reality and I don't find much use in resisting those things which I can't change. I will accept whatever happens that is outside of my control.

its all about control. mankind seems to seek control over all aspects in life, why not the weather? People assign governments, kings, and dictators to control themselves. We build electronics to control electricity. Dams to control water. we started out building weapons to control wildlife.
It seems to be human nature to have the desire to control and the weather would be like everything else in this world. Its just a function that can be manipulated with the right elements (as you can see in aarons post). It is a scary aspect to be playing with though, considering the weather can change for the worse globally and stay that way for thousands to millions of years. Who is to know what might start any form of snowball effect when you're moving hurricans and erupting volcanos...Its like a kid playing with a gun, eventually he'll probably pull the trigger.
But, if we are eternal beings who are in reality simply part of a greater whole as all evidence seems to me to indicate, what is there to be paranoid of?Last edited by Nadda; 01-08-2011, 11:48 PM.

Well what if our reality spills over into the next and we assume that there is an epic battle going on between good and evil what kind of greater consciousness would prefer to evolve into?

it's been said australia's role in the new world order is as a quarry, not a farm. however, agriculture is a massive industry in Australia.
So for the NWO to come to pass, Australia's food production capacity needs to be decimated. Interestingly, we're smack bang in the middle of the worst ever floods. The monsoonal trough that normally effects the north of the state swung an extra 1,800km south this year to dump so much rain that a sea of rainwater water the size of texas and california combined, and up to 15m deep swept through much of the state's beef, grain and fruit growing regions.
Already food prices are raising, and there's already shortages in supermarkets. (not in mine and my friend's communal gardens though.) Late last year unseasonal heavy rain in the north shut down the sugar harvest and literally billions of dollars of sugar cane rotted in fields to wet to drive harvesters into.
Four years ago cyclone larry ( a cyclone that dwarfed Katrina in size and power,) came ashore so slowly it wiped out the state's bananna crop just before harvest. Banannas went to ten dollars a kilo, where they could be brought at all. Two years ago, droughts decimated the wheat harvest. Last year, again due to unseasonal heavy rains, locusts bred in plague proportions never seen before. (airports were closed down, the air was so thick with them.
And what's really interesting is, whenever this happens on the east coast, the US Pacific carrier group is either just ending or is about to begin shore leave in some east coast town. When it happens on the west coast, the Indian ocean carrier group is leaving or about to arrive in Fremantle.
But of course, that's just a coincidence, and anyone who says otherwise is a crazy conspiracy theorist who supports terrorism and hates freedom, ammirite?
If anyone needs me, I'll just be in the corner laughing like a maniac while the whole world goes insane.

eco-terrorist
Defense.gov News Transcript: DoD News Briefing: Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen
Our govt admitted already there are "eco-terrorist" weapons.
"and others are designing some sort of engineering, some sort of insects that can destroy specific crops. Others are engaging even in an eco- type of terrorism whereby they can alter the climate, set off earthquakes, volcanoes remotely through the use of electromagnetic waves. So there are plenty of ingenious minds out there that are at work finding ways in which they can wreak terror upon other nations. It's real, and that's the reason why we have to intensify our efforts, and that's why this is so important."
