    end the fed

Good post on the education - to this day that goal is still followed closely.

Here is the 10 "planks" of the Communist Manifesto:

The section ends by outlining a set of short-term demands:
    1. Abolition of property in land and application of all rents of land to public purposes.
    2. A heavy progressive or graduated income tax.
    3. Abolition of all right of inheritance.
    4. Confiscation of the property of all emigrants and rebels.
    5. Centralisation of credit in the hands of the State, by means of a national bank with State capital and an exclusive monopoly.
    6. Centralisation of the means of communication and transport in the hands of the State.
    7. Extension of factories and instruments of production owned by the State; the bringing into cultivation of waste-lands, and the improvement of the soil generally in accordance with a common plan.
    8. Equal liability of all to labour. Establishment of industrial armies, especially for agriculture.
    9. Combination of agriculture with manufacturing industries; gradual abolition of the distinction between town and country, by a more equitable distribution of the population over the country.
    10. Free education for all children in public schools. Abolition of children's factory labour in its present form. Combination of education with industrial production.
I'm not against free education, but a centralized Federal Dept of Education
makes it easy to pass on their dumb making agendas throughout the
country. The proof is in the reality of our standing as a nation in the
    educational department.

Education can still be "free" on a purely state by state level where every
state, based on what their own voters want, can determine their own
educational methods. That way, there is a LOT of creativity that will
spawn from that and amazing things happen when people are allowed to
    think for themselves.

Obviously almost all of the other keypoints in the communist manifesto
have been closely stuck to by from the federal govt under the control of
    the banks.

If the communist manifesto didn't exist and people wanted to know the
guidelines of how to turn a free country into a dictatorship, they could
simply jot down everything the American federal govt has been doing for
    the last several generations.

Anyway, some of Ron Paul's comments:

http://www.ronpaul.com/2011-01-10/ro...he-debt-limit/ cuts off at the end, but states the point. At least he is
voting against it. Most likely, most of congress will vote for it because they
are sold out and have no backbone. I hope to be proven wrong.

Regarding education over the past few years there has been a marked increase in the number of people who are home schooling the kids. But even though the actual number doing this is still quite small still it has gotten the attention of government education system and they are going all out to make it more difficult for someone to home school. Their defense is that only through a public school can a child be exposed to a well rounded indoctrination (ah excuse me education) system. Also a child needs to be in a correctly structured system so as to be able to advance at the proper rate.

Of course it is extremely frustrating and embarrassing for these “educators” when they test home schooled kids only to find that more often then not these kids are typically 3-4 grades ahead of their public school friends. For their own good they cannot allowed this to continue.

        govt pension plans

I was watching a speech on cspan by the Gov of New Jersey and
he was mentioning that the state pension plans are either over 50% or
75% of the state budget - is that possible it is that much?

California is going bankrupt and the state pensions are a large part of
        this problem.

This is the case in every state as far as I know and is a HUGE contributor
to the economic instability across the country and this issue isn't in the
        limelight enough I think.

And if we think about the federal employee pensions, it is monstrous.

I'd like to see my own state stop all state paid pension plans for any
new employees and put them on a 401k or something like everyone else
or give the employee an option to pick their own plan, whatever.

I never thought about it too much until lately but why should my property
tax go to paying someone's retirement - I should be able to put that
money into my own retirement plan.

There has to be something done about this. I think the firefighters,
police, other city workers that have worked long enough to get a pension
upon retirement deserve some kind of retirement - but not on my dime.
Why can't those retirees have their benefits transferred to private
retirement plans or something so they aren't a drain on the economy,
which is EXACTLY what their pensions are - a drain on my future.

And if we think about the military, that is another problem. They deserve
to be compensated. My own father is a 100% disabled Air Force veteran
that gets disability and retirement. He deserves every dime he is getting
for his sacrifice but there has to be a better way.

And of course congress getting lifetime pension by serving even one term,
that is pathetic and has to stop. It is criminal plain and simple.
Their children are exempt from having to pay their student loan as far
        as I know.
        Sincerely,
        Aaron Murakami

I dont fully understand how the pension system works but from what i thought it was a matter of politicans getting re-elected. The politicans gave the unions what they wanted and in turn had the unions support for re-election. That might not be all of it, but im sure thats part of the problem. Politicians have showed time and time again they dont care about whoes money they are spending. Weather its the continous raises they give themselves or the spending packages to pay for their own local pork projects.

            govt pension

If a firefighter (city/county employee) works for x years to qualify for
a certain amount of pension - the longer the more - that means when
they retire, the city/county will pay their retirement pay month after month
until they die. I believe that is about it.

That applies to Police, city hall employees, etc... all city/county workers
that actually work long enough to draw a pension and there are countless
of them and even more at the federal level.

Their retirement comes out of our pockets.

So it gets to the point there are so many retired govt employees drawing
pensions from our pockets that it accounts for a ridiculous amount of
            the budget.

This is simplified but I think is the pretty basic concept.

If this is wrong, someone please correct me.

It has been stated before but we need a constitutional amendment that simply states "Congress shall make no laws that do not equally apply to all members of congress and government personal".

                28th amendment

I agree that is a good one or some other wording that accomplishes
                that exact goal.

There many proposed 28th amendments including:

                separation of corporation and state
direct voting (elimination of electoral college so the people actually elect)

I think there should be medical freedom for people to choose any
kind of health care they want - naturopathic, homeopathic, etc... and
by virtue of the amendment, all natural remedies are automatically
                legal and untouchable.

Anyway, the proposed one you mentioned does address in part the
pensions, insurance, etc... that the congress gets that are unavailable
                to the general public.
                Sincerely,

These state-run banks are what CAUSED the crash in 2008?

Gov. monies were in these state-run banks' money market accounts

Clue: DTTC, DTC and CEDE Co. electronically (paperlessly) control all

Which was it ? a single trigger man or 10s of thousands of local

Every state should operate a bank like North Dakota, period.

                        I was born there.

The have a large surplus and jobs are growing there.

What do you not like about it? What is the down to them owning their
own bank - it has done good things for ND's economy.

Surplus, yes! Jobs, no! Unless you are speaking of the oil boomers in the west. Our taxes and prices have risen sharply, yet, the surplus termed "The Rainy Day Fund" sits in overfilled coffers while the floods ravage the land. A bank is a bank no matter who owns it. The state may have purchasing power, but where does that leave the rest of us hard working, tax paying North Dakotans? What good is the money in the bank if I'm not able to pay my bills even after a full work week? North Dakota! Home of the ultraconservatives! Hoarders is more like it...

What state has the highest number of millionaires per capita? North Dakota!

North Dakota - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

From 1923 through the beginning of the 21st century, North Dakota experienced a virtually constant decline in population, particularly among younger people with university degrees. One of the major causes of emigration in North Dakota results from a lack of skilled jobs for graduates. Some propose the expansion of economic development programs to create skilled and high-tech jobs, but the effectiveness of such programs has been open to debate. During the first decade of the 21st century, the population increased, in large part because of jobs in the oil industry.

                            ND surplus money

So it sounds like the bank has worked for ND to increase the amount of
                            funds available.

I read that there are jobs being created there - but of course can't confirm
                            that.

Anyway, doesn't ND have an initiative process like Washington? Seems
there are plenty of ways to get the voters to petition the state to pass
bills to have the money spent in such and such way - tax credits, etc...
                            whatever.

All I know is the possibility is there to create something out of all that
surplus cash that benefits the residents of ND.
                            Sincerely,

Ever heard of "Home Rule Charter"? We vote and they overturn the vote in our best interests, so they say. The posted reference is only for one county in this case, but, that is the general way of the state too, just under a different mask.

For instance... A recent no smoking ban in all bars and smoke shops was passed even though the people of the county voted in opposition to the law. Now all counties are following suit.

                              Home Rule Charter

Do you have friends or family in ND? What are their opinions?
