    It's happening!!!

Mubarak to step down. Military have told the protestors in Tahrir Square that all their demands have been 'realised'

They are buzzin - singing, laughing.

Still waiting for undeniable proof that their demands have been met, but serious rumours that mubarak has left Cairo.

For me this is better than the ending of the cold war and the falling of the wall.

Yes, Noises, you're on the money about needing several sources on an issue before you can get some idea of what's actually happening. Reference the old Dalai Lama. As I said above I am not convinced of his nazi tendencies, despite viewing many photos and documents that some would see as proof. Whereas I actually experience the lies of the Blairs and Bushes in my own life. That's real proof for me.

COME ON YOU EGYPTIAN PROTESTER HEROES. YOU HAVE SET THE STANDARD FOR THE COMMON PEOPLE ALL OVER THE PLANET

    PEACEFUL PROTEST HAS TRIUMPHED

          We celebrated too soon.

The fortitude of the protesters is unbelievable. After being hyped up to believe that mubarak would step down, and then having that hope whipped away from them, they remain defiant.

This was a deliberate set up. All that false information that the protestors demands had been met was psychological trickery - between the US Zionist mubarak-suleiman regime and the Egyptian military (that receives $millions each year from US)

They were hoping the protesters would go on the rampage, unable to bear the frustration. Then, the military would have an excuse to use force on them.

Much has been made of the 'wonderful' military being on the side of the people. I'm not so sure.

It now all looks set for a STAGED military coup.

That's my take on it anyway.

          Power to the protestors.

More reports of Muslims and Christians holding hands in prayer. This has to spread across the world, especially into UK, US and Europe.

ASH - petty personality/ego clashes have no place in the face of what's happening in Egypt. I am chastened.

            I offer you my hand

THEY'VE DONE IT. MUBARAK STEPS DOWN!!!

Whoever steps in to lead Egypt had better remember one thing, their people will not be duped, will not be stolen from, will not be repressed and will not be ignored. Not anymore. I think Egypt is about to become one of the most free countries on Earth.

And a moment of reflection, love and thanks for those 326 martyrs who brought Egypt's freedom with their lives, and the countless thousands killed by the ousted regime in the decades it held power.

Their sacrifice has been honored beautifully and in a most fitting way. The train station in Cairo formerly known as Mubarak station will be renamed Martyrs Station. Ensuring those who paid the ultimate sacrifice in this people's uprising will never be forgotten.

              Egypt remembers
Age shall not weary them. Nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
              We will remember them.
              Lest We Forget.

My thoughts exactly - and I am using the 'not worthy' icon to say: I am in awe of what has taken place in Egypt.

!st Tunisia, then Egypt... is Algeria next? other north african and mid eastern dictatorships and theocracies, look out -

the fire of revolution by peaceful protest is catching, it seems. People in Algeria have been told they're not allowed to protest against their government. (which has been in place since a state of emergency was declared in 1992, 19 years ago.) but they're protesting anyway.

There was a quote doing the rounds about two weeks ago, what was it again? Oh yes, that's right.

"He who makes peaceful protest impossible will make violent revolution inevitable."

Well, Anon's decided it's Algeria, but the people of Yemen are putting in a valiant effort to be next regardless. Dictatorship dominoes, gotta knock them all down!

Love and gratitude to the new wave of digital journalists out there. From reports that break your heart to the ones that heal it again, I feel blessed to live in a world where people are so passionate about issues that matter to them that they'll walk into the path of a baton charge with a camera in their hands to report them.

I'm not new to activism. I'm not even new to journalism. But I'm seeing things this year that blend the line between the two. I think that's important because for the last few decades, the media and the news it reports has been getting more and more contrived and controlled. It's become less of a investigative beast, and more of a lapdog of the self ascribed global elite political and economic interest.

That bugged me. Seriously, I spent most of my early adulthood with a huge chip on my shoulder about the direction the media lent in, compared to what I understood it's job to be. A lot of people wouldn't care, I get that, I did care though, that's all I'm saying. So personally, to see for instance the explosion in web news services, blogs, and people's stories from around the world, in their words, with their own images, that's been incredible for me.

Sure, there's little to no change from old news outlets. They still play the bleeds equals leads game, show poverty porn and never expose root causes thereby never effecting change, focus on celebrity over substance. In the big end of town, as far as the media is concerned, nothing's changed. But in reality something has changed. fewer and fewer people are going to those old news services to stay current, they're learning there are superior, more immediate sources of current events, with or without commentary, and they're tuning into those instead. I just wanted to express appreciation for that. Communications are vital in every revolution, be it some dude on a horse waking up people going on about people in red coats a few hundred years ago, to the bush telegraph that spreads the news in a community or a guy who tweets and blogs under the name of sandmonkey. To everyone who ever carried news of a revolution their fellow man, I say...

Lybia. Bahrain. Algeria. Yemen. Syria. Jordan. Iran.

These are places where government forces, in the last week, openly killed any of their citizens who disagree with them. In two of those countries, the police and military violence went as far as shooting people working at and being treated in hospitals.

CNN Reporter Comes Under Live Gunfire While Interviewing Protesters In Bahrain*|*Shut Fox News Down
and here's a story of a (ohmigod) US Citizen and Journalist coming under fire while reporting from Bahrain. Yes, 300 people have been killed in bahrain ( a key US ally in the gulf,) by their military in the last THREE DAYS. Hopeful, now one american has been shot at (and not even hit,) the people in the US will suddenly start to care. sad it has to work like that.

The entire middle east is being swept by revolution, following Tunisia. Egypt wasn't the first and won't be the last. If YOU wear a badge or a uniform and carry a gun, here's a sombre warning. Each shot you fire at a peaceful protester is another black stain on your soul that will take you lifetimes of personal suffering and piety to scrub off again.

One second of feeling powerful for ten lifetimes of suffering. Is it worth it? To all police persons and people in armed forces. When the revolution against corruption comes to YOUR country, choose your side carefully, lest you DAMN YOURSELF. You might be ordered to kill your countrymen to preserve power for your corrupt leaders. How you act on those orders is YOUR choice, and YOU'RE the one who'll suffer for choosing to answer peaceful protest with live ammunition.

"And when I googled windmill I found there was million of applications! I said, where was this Google all this time?!"
                          -William Kamkwamba
The above quote comes from a dirt-poor African farmer, who used an internet connection at a local library to do some research and discovered windmills can be used to generate electricity. Now he owns a windmill, that he built himself with scrap.

And it came from a website I just wandered by, BUY THIS SATELLITE - Connect Everyone. who's goal is to raise $150,000 USD and begin to deliver both free and affordable (free if you're broke, cheap if you can pay,) internet access to the 6 billion people in the world who don't know what google is.

I noticed further down the page, you get a really cool Tshirt ( I brought a satellite and all I got was this lousy Tshirt) if you donate $50.

You say you want a revolution? If you support free speech and used an INTERNET connection you take for granted to follow what happened in Egypt, this could be the perfect way to give something back. Internet connectivity is becoming such a game-changer that having access to the internet is rapidly becoming a fundamental human right. Not just to raise your own voice in protest over this or that, but also, quite simply, to access the wealth of information that can and should be used to create a better quality of life for every human being on the planet.

Your message to the uniforms is true on many levels, Noises. May they read/hear it.

Yep and lybian anons have hacked gadafi's website too. Their defiance (and humor,) in the face of gunfire is seriously awe inspiring.

I didn't leave other countries out on purpose, it's seriously getting hard to stay current with pro-democratic revolution, it's happening in so many places now.

                                think that is over yet.

Well, the dam is springing leaks and "they" are running out of fingers to
plug it up. I think they already ran out quite a while back and it is finally
                                catching up with them.
