I recently received several email petitions telling me to sign up for overthrowing this government and that government. Some emails even encourage me to invest in the stock market to save the economy.
Yes, I agree that these governments are corrupt. And the economy is important to us. But hang on a minute. Why the ordinary citizens have to shed blood and pay the price for this so-called anti-corruption activities?
Mahatma Gandhi once said, “Withholding payment of taxes is one of the quickest methods of overthrowing a government.”
He also said, “He or she who supports a State organized in the military way – whether directly or indirectly – participates in the sin. Each man old or young takes part in the sin by contributing to the maintenance of the State by paying taxes.”
The governments' money comes from two sources: the tax and the treasury bonds. The world governments are the biggest investors in the stock market. When the stock market rallies to a certain level, the power-that-be will crash the stock market by selling stocks and transfer the sale proceeds to the treasury market. I believe, if we spend our precious time on protest or any form of so-called peaceful demonstration, then the government will end up spending the tax payers' on military crackdown. If a government is truly in need of a change, and if there is really a so-called big-brother bothering us, then why there isn't any message on the internet telling us to divest and withhold tax payment?
