Self sufficient communities

Hi ALL. The themes would be , self sufficiency in regional currency, sovereignty, alternative medicine, free energy and food security.

Here are some:

Community In Italy a Sovereign Society and Ecovillage who have THEIR OWN CURRENCY! They were founded in 1975, they are for the conscious evolution of humanity. There are temples created by a lost civilization on inside a mountain with beautiful art. go to Damanhur Home Page

Ella bay, about an hour south of me.

Ella Bay Integrated Master Planned Community • North Queensland, Australia

The plan is, over the next 15 years, develop a self sustaining community that also operates as a tourist destination, complete with tropical beaches, lush rainforests and even a golf course.

No news how they did with the cyclone but afaik there's no significant development there yet.

There was also a self sustaining community of squatters in the national parks around the Walsh River catchment, up in the hills behind the Atherton Tablelands. However the police went in and demolished houses and threw everyone out after a series of wildly successful bush doofs made the area infamous across parts of Australia. lesson learned, if you're going off the grid, keep a low profile or do it in conjuction with an existing govt functionary (ie a universtity,) to avoid having your alternative to the status quo bulldozed by thugs with badges and guns.
