Sorry to hear it, I have a friend that works in KL, I will ask him if he knows the area and put the word out about the scam.

I have been under major attack with worms trojans and viruses. Fitting a new hard drive with new software didn't help, my antivirus caught a lot of it but not all. Two re formats and installations later, I think I am free for now.

I got some off the MSN Hotmail buy just signing in, or at least that is when it was detected.

Sorry to hear that M8. Was this transaction paid with founds on PP or with credit card through PP? Tha latest should be always used. If PP won't be able to recover funds from dishonest seller you can always call 800 number on the back of your card and ask to charge back.
I use to chase those guys on eBay. There are links - eBay View About Me for blackchisel97
It was some time ago and I don't know if all are still valid but there maybe something useful among.

Ash, what were the details of this scam? Did your girlfriend reply to an e-mail purported to be from PayPal, and asking you to verify your account details? There are a lot of those types of scams out there, and once the scammer has your account details he can make a PayPal payment from your account to himself.

Another kind of scam which uses PayPal is done by persons placing items for sale at eBay, Craig's List, Uncle Henry's, and other such websites. The item for sale sounds like the bargain of a lifetime, like for an example a nearly new farm tractor and implements worth $25,000 to $30,000 but selling for $5,000 or so. The ad photos look really good, and generate a lot of interest. When an eager buyer responds, the seller tells the buyer that he is only selling the tractor because he is desperate for cash to avoid having the bank foreclose on his farm, and will offer free shipping to the buyer if the buyer can complete the sale this same day. The buyer is hesitant, of course, to purchase something he has not inspected first hand, but the seller says that he will guarantee the items are as claimed and that the buyer may return the items at seller's expense if the buyer is not satisfied. The buyer is told that the seller wants to complete the transaction through his eBay account using PayPal so that the buyer will have eBay buyer protection. Seller explains that eBay will be sending instructions for making the payment. Shortly afterwards, the buyer receives an e-mail sent from "support@eBaytransactiondetails.com," or something along those lines, that appears to authentically be from eBay, but is not. The e-mail utilizes pages copied from eBay and PayPal websites, that are edited by the scammer to tailor them to the scam transaction. The "buyer protection" details section of the e-mail assure the buyer that this is a safe purchase, and that eBay will hold the buyer's money until the item is shipped, received, and verified acceptable by the buyer. It looks to the unknowing buyer as though he is well protected and has nothing to lose by entering into this transaction, so he happily and speedily goes ahead with it as outlined in the instructions. A sad mistake. The buyer's money is gone, he receives nothing, and there is nothing that eBay or PayPal can do to help the scam victim. Be careful, folks! Any time you see something advertised that looks too good to be true then it almost always is. The tractor example cited above is something I just happened to run across recently, and I pretended to be an interested buyer just to see how the seller would try to put one over on me. He must have been quite disappointed when I contacted eBay and PayPal to report him, and included the e-mails that were sent to me by him. Don't buy anything expensive from a distance - always buy locally, where you can personally inspect an item and take it with you after a purchase.

          Scam details

Hi Rick, Mbrown, Black Chisel and ALL.

Thank you all for the kind words , info and feedback my friends, Rick i didn't know those scams were around, Thank you for posting that, sorry for all the fuss, i was really pissed yesterday and should of cooled off before posting. Thanks for the feedback, here are the finer details of the scam please warn your friends and family.

if you place an add for item for sale A number is texted to your phone about your add, it is this one +60176652807 (shows up on the net as PYRAMID OIL SDN BHD - Suppliers, Manufacturers, Vendors, Factory, Importers, Exporters )

it states it is interested in your add and to email Sandra Baggins @ gmail.com for info. You get this email:

Hi , thanks for your response...i am really interested in buying this I would have loved to come and see it in person but i am not in town at this time,i am in Malaysia on special assignment but i would be buying this for my daughter in Malaysia, but before we proceed, do you accept paypal?...because i only make payment via paypal....its the safest means of making payment as it protect both buyers and sellers interest.so if you accept paypal kindly get back to me as soon as possible..Thanks and God bless.

Then it asks for your pay pal email for payment, you are asked to send the item priority too post to Malaysia and payment is pending on pay pal , your are then asked to provide the tracking number to "unlock the pay pal payment".

A after giving the tracking number, the pay pal payment is still pending, Sandra baggins (sandrabaggins@gmail.com) is not a valid pay pal account, and a phony pay pal email is sent to you stating your funds are being processed, the item is collected and the scam is complete.

          you get this email

          From: "service@pay pal.com "
Attn: = your pay pal address

The PayPal Payment Team received the tracking number sent to us details with FedEx (898428533971). We are now processing your funds but, due to the high number of transactions in which PayPal handles daily, we will like you to give us maximum of 48hours, to credit your account with the money paid in by Sandra Baggins (sandrabaggins@gmail.com).

NOTE : This measure is taken for online security check. This is not a procedure to inconvenient any party, both the seller/buyer have maximum right of protection and PayPal will be hold responsible for any shortcoming from both parties. our payment team is happy to inform you that your funds will be fully processed and credited into your account on or before Wednesday, December 21, 2011 (12:37: 56 PM PDT) and you shall receive the confirmation immediately. You are encouraged to complete this transaction. Here at PayPal, you can be assured that your security and safety is our topmost concern.

Just wanted to thank every one for the emails and replies, especially Aaron
I sincerely appreciate all of them, its really does help "move on" humans are funny like that? I bet this guy has a few items there by now. But it doesn't matter after all, who really needs gifts and stuff for the holidays, its the time to reflect and spend with each other that really counts. I guess i was as silly to worry about it as i was to get scammed

Thanks again for your emails , no one should go to that address, i have warned pay pal and as many as i could . Maybe a few will report that address to the Malaysian police. I think its time after a hard long year to relax finally and hope that every one enjoys the time together.

            Thanks again guys

            Ash

              Hey Ash,

I'm sorry my friend about your plight, the scammers right now are reeking their havoc on the net.

A few things to remember for the future .... before sending funds to anyone not known by you.

Check the persons e-mail address, screen name or IP address if possible -
Stop Forum Spam ( the best up-dated hourly )

With the Pay Pal payments make arrangements for verification of the e-mail address .... send $0.25 (twenty five cents USD) first and verify the receipt of such deposited funds just as Pay Pal does to you when opening a account, if you still unsure send a second deposit before the full sum. Then you maybe are only out a buck or the price of a soda.

and .... Please try and have a MERRY CHRISTMAS

              Best,
              Fuzzy
