Adrienne....
Comparing myself to others...I'm guilty of that My dad started that pattern when I was a child when he asked, "why can't you be more like so-and-so...?" Add hearing loss to the equation (I was a premie) and my overly strict parents ingrained "you can't this...can't that...." into my thinking. No wonder I was shy, anxious and compared myself to the normal kids.
I got my first panic attack at work. It came out of the blue, I wasn't thinking about anything in particular. I don't even remember if I was holding my breath, but I do remember the physical feelings and how they affected my thoughts. Its supposed to be the other way around, isn't it--our thinking affects our feelings? BTW, try to breathe from the belly area instead of the chest.
Adrienne, feel free to PM me if you want.
Hey PATHS, please make module for anxiety, panic & phobias!!!
I am currently having faith that what my head starts to tell me, is a lie.... when i am in these places of fear and anxiety... I would very often judge myself and compare myself to others and what i was dong or where i was at....
and that i wasn't good enough... and stuff like that. Don't know if that fits for you , but i am seeing more clearly now that this/these ailments that have been a big part of my life as well has been a big part of my mothers life too...
are illusions about who i really am.... not sure if that makes sense, but alas i get what i am saying.... and it's more of a taste/sense...
