  • Speed drawing...

Grace, Well I don't know if they are fast... I am creating them on the computer, but my style is what my first fashion illustration instructor called whimsical. What I mean is that I am a master at making your eye and and brain think you see more detail than is actually there! I put the basic stuff in and your brain fills in the rest! Even when I don't work on the computer but work with my pencil, and paints I just just the right amount of detail to give you the idea that there is more detail in the pic.

These drawings are done in Adobe Illustrator, which to many people is complicated and hard to learn. It is a Vector based drawing, so instead of little tiny dots making up the picture it is a mathematical drawing that can be blown up as big as the sears tower if you wanted to, without loosing any clarity. Learning Illustrator was one of those nightmares that after it is over you are left absolutely grateful for the experience. I was in college, and took a class on the program... My computer did not have enough memory to run the program, so I ended up doing each assignment 5 times. The result was that I learned the program inside and out! Well that has nothing to do with the speed of things, but just a cool story! Illustrator is now my favorite computer program! I have actually been asked by graphic artist with 15 years more experience than me to teach them Illustraror! What an honor!

Well I have another one in the works in my head... She is going to be fun yet challenging! The vision is still clarifying itself! For me a painting is kind of like manifesting stuff, you have just have faith and jump into it. The vision clarifies as I draw! I do love my faeries though! Hehehee!

Thanks for the compliments on my work! I am seeing some posters that these will evolve into. My dad is going to help me market them, they will be coming up very soon, and he will help me put it all together and for sell on the web, and then he will market them to stores also! I am thinking this is what you have been seeing all along!

And.... I have been wondering how you do such wonderful, creative stuff on your computer .... and BINGO! You gave me the explanation! I think I may just have to get Illustrator and pop it into my computer! Your works are so FUN and special that it makes me want to play too!

THis makes me think of a wonderful quote by Wayne Dyer in his book Inspiration: Your Ultimate Calling

      .
"I think of the word inspiration as meaning “being in-Spirit.” When we’re in-Spirit, we’re inspired…and when we’re inspired, it’s because we’re back in-Spirit,fully awake to Spirit within us. Being inspired is an experience of joy: we feel completely connected to our Source and totally on purpose; our creative juices flow, and we bring exceptionally high energy to our daily life."

THis is you to a T!! Inspired and "in spirit"!!

        • First Snowfall

Overnight we had our first taste of winter with snowsqualls and blowing snow. What scene to wake up to.

          first snow 2007 009.JPG

So, of course, I had to write a poem!
          First snowfall
A serenely quiet viewing outside the window
          Illusions blanket of grace
          Covering man's mistakes
Perception of perfection or morning commuter's chaos
          Our choice to make
Children in the playground rejoice in snowball fun
Snow fort buildings springing up like magic in their space
          While adults patience simmers
Slick roads and snow plows their focus on this morn
          Visibility reduced by snowflakes
          We forget to truly see
          Mother Nature's snow-white blessing
Reminding us of first snow purity
Taking a moment to catch a flake on your tongue
Breathing in the fresh, crisp air
Looking up to see the snowflakes fall
As children and puppies romp and play
          Discovering seasons of change
It is a brand new day
          Enjoy!

          • Zartgirl and Maggie ROCK!

            Oh, My Dear Sally Jane!!!

Honey...I am so impressed with your work!!! And your style is exquisitely unique as well! Yes! Whimsical is the PERFECT description!!!These Faeries are DELIGHTFUL, Honey!!! But wait... I am astonished that you do these with your computer!!! I can tell you right now that donkees dressed in pink tutus would fly before I could do anything like this with a computer!!! You have some VERY CREATIVE Powerful Feminine Energy going on, my Lovie, (in more ways than one, Darling Girl! ) and we are all so honored to have you share your work (and your heart) with us!!! Thank You, Sweetie!!!

And My Maggie... Your poem is PRECIOUS!!! As you already know from our call this morning...when I read it I felt that joyous sense of childlike wonder and this was such a Big Blessing for me today! My Dearest Maggie!!! This snowy weather will soon visit me and when it does, I will now be able to embrace it in a new way and remember the message in this poem... Seeing and experiencing the world through the eyes and heart of a child is what keeps us filled with Light and how Very Blessed we all are that you remind us of this Beautiful Truth in your Beautiful Way!

            With MUCH Love and Gratitude,

You took me back to childhood when I lived in South Lake Tahoe... Oh man! Did I love the snow! That was back before I became a wimp for cold weather... Ahhh those were the days! Although, If I lived someplace where it wasn't just cold, but got some serious snow .

Vineyardnancy, Cool! Illustrator will take some patients, but once you get it, it is way fun!

Pamela! Welcome back girlfriend! Wow! Your paintings are soooo awesome! I just don't have the patients for that style of work. What patients you have! Thank you for your wonderful words of my work! It is so cool to know so many creative people here! That is one thing I have missed is having creative friends! Yes my work is definitely Whimsical! Even when I am working with paint brushes or other hand mediums. I do have fun with my work! My father once told me I would never be a fine artist, and my first Fashion Illustration instructor had a problem with my Whimsical style. Well art is a personal preference! My dad at that time told me I would have to settle for designing record album covers... LOL! I thought to myself, but they only hire the best of the best artist! So dang I must be good! LOL

It has only been the last few years that I have learned to really appreciate my style and work! Thank you so much for your kind words!

Okay, I finished another one tonight! Hehehee! I have so much fun with these! My son Nathaniel gave her the name "Light" and she is a pixie. My daughter says she is a little freaky looking... I told her I wasn't drawing a human! Come on now! Hehee She was fun as I approached her completely differently! Every aspect of her was kind of different and took thought! I hope you enjoy "Light"

Hello all my wonderful friends!!! Yes I have been at it again! Another one!!!!! I am having sooooo much fun with these faces! hehehehehee! It is like I finish one and the next one is waiting in line, already being envisioned, or at least some aspect of it. I never have a full vision of it till I finish the illustration!

Oh by the way Pamela... The computer is not that hard to draw on... Adobe Illustrator is an awesome program to work in (well that is if you ask a vector based person) it draws using the Brezier method. You add a point and then pull it to make it bend the way you want it to, and then you add another point where you want the line to go to... This is where it gets a little tricky, cause sometimes it you have to correct your curves with another tool! It is basically a learning curve, but your paintings are sooooo awesome that I wouldn't worry about learning to control dots on computers! hehehe!

Ok, here is "Water" He is a Faerie.

                                Enjoy! Blessings Sallyjane zartgirl
