  • Water Purification for Emergency Storage

For water purification can some one help me figure out how manuy drops of unactivated mms I would need to put into 5 gallons of water if I wanted to store it for emergency use for say 5 - 7 years? Also, should I wish to use activated mms, how may drops of activated mms (chlorine dioxide) would it take to do the same thing, and also with the activated mms would that be straight activated mms without being undiluted with water? Thanks

    chlorine dioxide

    For example:
    Aquamira Chlorine Dioxide Water Treatment

That much treats 60 gallons for 5 year storage. You mix both in a glass
of water for 5 minutes, it turns yellow then you dump it in.
    Sincerely,
    Aaron Murakami

      Aaron,

      Good info, thanks.

Noticed this statement on the website you referenced:

We apologize, but we can't ship the AquaMira Chlorine Dioxide Water Treatment to California.

      Anybody know why?

An alternative is Calcium Hypochlorite based "Pool Shock" to treat water - the Pool Shock will last a lot longer than the popular liquid bleach that survivalists recommend.

Sodium thiosulphate, can be used as a Dechlorinator - best filter the water through a carbon filter if you use the stuff. As the Sodium thiosulphate just binds with the chlorine and stays in the water.

Another alternative is to do as the pilgrims did, drop a silver coin in the water.

Another alternative is producing chlorine from salt by electrolysis

The process overview: The electrolysis converts the saline solution (sodium chloride) into active chlorine (sodium hypochlorite).

That is same system offered profesionally by conquest inc. Eliminate the need of flouride, and 1/1000 chlorine.
