  • memories with PATHS

    Hi

Aaron had talked about the concept where when we remember something our mind 'bilocates' to that point in the past.

Then would it be theoretically possible to subconsciously chnage our choice at that moment in the past to alter the future that we are experiencing right now? This in turn would also change the memory of that thing to the new memory based on the new choice being made.
    Help me out, Aaron

    Thnx

    changing the past

    Hi Kiran,

I think there are two ways of changing the past... one is the change that literally changes the entire time line and we wouldn't know the difference. That is a literal change in every way, which was influenced by the future.

The other is to change our perception of how we perceived something in the past. There is always the innate "reality" of a situation and then there is the made up illusion or story that we turn the innate reality into.

Maybe as a child, someone was wearing some bright colored shirt and some other kid said, "That is a funny looking shirt!" Maybe the kid meant funny as in just different or unusual but not funny as in stupid looking. That is what really happened. But the kid wearing the shirt may have only made up in their mind that they were told they were looking stupid in that shirt and from then on for the rest of their life, they never wore another bright colored piece of clothing again and always wore dark or drab colors not even realizing it was from the story they made up as a child.

Maybe they want to become more extroverted in later life and they look back at childhood and realize they did make up the story that they looked stupid, when the reality is that they simply wore a bright shirt. They have a choice to see the past situation any way they want. They made up the first perception to begin with and since our past is made up anyway, we might as well make up something that will empower us. As soon as choosing to see the fact that they weren't stupid from wearing a bright shirt, their entire past instantly changes (perceptually) to accommodate that change and they are no longer run on autopilot from that reaction.

From this idea, we can also change the past by simply seeing a more accurate innateness of what happened. Or taking it even further, convince the self that the bright colored shirt made them such a super human power to reckon with and the kid who commented only did so out of intimidation. LOL so it is up to us and perceptually, we literally do change our past since we made it up to begin with.

Since we always operate out of the moment anyway, we don't have to literally bilocate in memory to go change things, just change in the moment what story we made up about whatever happened. It is essentially the same thing in my opinion.
    Sincerely,
    Aaron Murakami

I have used the platinum module to deal with several difficult memories. I think PATHS is also working on a module specifically for post-traumatic stress, which we now know is not limited to obviously horrible traumatic events.
