    Testimonial from Odille

Odille for putting us on the path of creating a PATHS Module for fibromyalgia!

We have had a good number of people now benefit from this Module in their Platinums...now it is available to everyone as a stand alone Module.

    Here is Odilles' experience~

In about 2004, I finally went to my doctor for a check up. I'd had constant pain in all my limbs and my back, which felt like it was in the bones, for about two years. I had assumed it was because of getting older! I'd heard old people talk of "aches and pains", and so I assumed it was normal (okay, I wasn't that old, but thought maybe it starts earlier than I'd thought lol).

However... my mother had come to visit, and I'd asked her if she had this pain, and she said no! She said occasionally an ache or a pain, but not constantly. I was also always very very very tired. I draaaaged myself through the day.

So, I went to my doctor. I was sent for various blood tests, and finally a clinical diagnosis was made for Fibromyalgia. I'd never heard of it before, and my doctor explained that the cause is unknown, there is no cure, and you have to just live with it. He prescribed small doses of anti-depressants as pain-killers (apparantly very common for Fibromyalgia). He also suggested an increase in exercise, and that I take up swimming in particular. He explained that the pain is believed to be in the small muscles close to the bone - which is why it feels like the actual bones are hurting.

The pain-killers didn't work, and he changed them a few times. I eventually gave up on them. I did some research and found that a "symptom" of Fibromyalgia is disturbed sleep (I now believe it's a CAUSE not a symptom). Having been a very heavy sleeper up to a couple of years before I started experiencing the symptoms, I was pretty sure that was a major key. And it made sense. I wasn't sleeping for longer than an hour at a time. And I never seemed to sleep deeply. My body MUST be struggling, considering all the stuff that happens during proper deep sleep.

I also heard somewhere that those suffering with Fibromyalgia have breathing issues. I had become aware that I seem to naturally breath very very shallow - like the bare minimum, and only when I consciously make the effort do I remember to breath in properly. This also made sense. If the muscles were starved of oxygen, it's no surprise they would hurt! So I started trying to remember to take deep breaths.

The only time I had no pain was when I was in a hot bath. So I started taking a couple of those a day. Then I found Paths - which I used for other issues, and didn't really even think about the Fibromyalgia.... until I realised I started sleeping deeply for the first time in years!! I only woke once or twice a night to go to the bathroom - and then went back to sleep easily!

I noticed a slight improvement in the symptoms - I wasn't as tired, and the pain wasn't constant, although it was still there a lot of the time, in the background. So I then swapped one of my other modules for the Pain Relief module.

In April 2007 I ordered a Platinum Paths module, and asked Paths to put instructions in it to address the Fibromyalgia. A couple of months later I was pain-free. Now, the only time I feel muscle pain is after a vigorous karate training session, and then of course, it's a good pain lol I'm also no longer constantly tired.

I've not had the symptoms of Fibromyalgia come back since.
I do believe that although the doctors don't seem to know what the cause is (my doctor had suggested it might be diet, but my diet was very healthy at the time, so I don't know about that), I believe it is a combination of Stress (and the chemicals released through stress); not enough oxygen (the reason exercise may help as well); and lack of deep sleep.
