  • Neural pathways and Binaural beats?

Today I was wondering why I have to take so little spirulina compared to the amounts that I hear about many others having to take to maintain enough neurotransmitters to process all the PATHS instructions....

A thought hit me out of the blue!

Perhaps it is because I have been listening to binaural beat soundtracks an average of 8 hours per day for almost 7 years.

I am not a scientist, but maybe the constant exposure to the binaural beats has developed broader neural pathways and the instructions can flow more easily, utilizing less power (neurotransmitters) to deliver all the instructions?

Maybe Aaron or someone else more educated in such matters could weigh in on this subject.

    Great Question!

    Hey Kevin,

I was wondering a similar thing (until I hit a major bout of cogdiss this week, which I'm assuming means I wasn't taking enough spiru) -- I haven't been listening to binaural beats 8 hours a day (how do you DO that and stay awake??? ) but b/c I've been using Holosync (a binaural beat meditation product) for 5 years or so now (i've lost track)....one hour day (with some breaks)...was wondering what the effect of having already been retraining the brain might have on the PATHS experience...

Can't wait to see what a Resident Expert has to say about this. Thanks for bringing it up!

      Binaural Beats

      Hi Chans,

About 7 years ago when I first started listening to binaural beat sound tracks as part of enhancing my TRV skills, I realized they made me feel very relaxed.

I have been an insomniac since elementary school, so it did not take me long to realize that I could put the cd player on repeat and listen all night long while I slept!

I have been doing that ever since.

I also listen to a special binaural soundtrack while TRVing.

Regarding cognitive dissonance...this is something that is quite different than the tiredness/fatigue/lack of concentration that can manifest from a lack of neurotransmitters.

Cog diss is when a new idea slams up against an existing paradigm and an internal battle occurs.

Lack of spirulina (neurotransmitters) is a lack of physical fuel to process the PATHS instructions.

I suppose if a person was experiencing the internal strife of cog diss that taking some spirulina may make them feel better, simply because of the nutritional values.

btw, the soundtracks I have been listening to all these years are mostly Zygon, Mind Tek, and AudioNoesis.

        Thanks, Kevin!!!

wow...thanks for explaining the distinction between cogdiss and the tiredness thing. I was kind lumpinem together in my mind. No, what I've been having is totally cogdiss...no wonder the added spiru didn't help!!!!1 BUT Gracie has worked her magic so now i'm a happy camper....

So now I know how you can listen to binaural beats 8 hours a day ....

          binaural and paths

          Hi Kevin,

For sure the binaurals develop a more effective neural network between the hemispheres of the brain. ALSO, the entire endocrine system is stimulated and especially the hypothalmus, pituitary and pineal.

I personally believe anyone who has used binaurals quite a bit will be able to process PATHS more effectively since it is like having fiber optics instead of low bandwidth wiring.

As far as needing less spirulina, I'm not sure. I would almost think the brain would need more with having a more elaborate network. Would be interesting to know. Maybe by using the binaurals all that time, you have trained your body to more effectively assimilate the aminos from your food to build that network. Would be a good target later on.

With the enhanced pineal/hypothalmus/pituitary stimulation I believe there is more communications between the subconscious and conscious thinking mind.
          Sincerely,
          Aaron Murakami

hmmmmmm you boys are inspiring me to get back to my Holosync practice, which I've kind of left by the wayside for the last couple of months b/c of time constraints...gotta figure out a way to fit it back in...

            thanks!

              This is excellent!

I'm so happy to read this conversation. I noticed an intensification of my enjoyment and use of H/S since starting PATHS. I'm absolutely feeling effects from PATHS and today is only my 2 week anniversary.

I have typically used the Holosync Floating track to fall asleep with, and set my iPod to play on repeat for either 60 or 90 minutes. Since starting PATHS, some nights I'm so relaxed and ready for sleep that I don't even feel like bothering with the headphones, but when I do, it seems even more enjoyable than before PATHS. And my daytime meditation with the Dive and Immersion is awesome.

One reason I didn't pursue PATHS sooner was that I felt as though H/S was enough - as SJ said on the PI forum, I was afraid to put "too many bleaches down the loo" - but it doesn't feel like that at all.

It feels like a Healthy Brain Cocktail!
