    Thanks for the link "Good Info on PATHS Sleep," Kevin. I may have to try the super deep sleep module. How much melatonin does your customer take with the level 4 sleep module?

    I took 12 mg. of time-release melatonin the night before last before bed and then I set a non-time release 3 mg tablet beside my bed to take if I woke up. I took the 3 mg sometime after midnight upon awaking. I continue to wake up every few hours. My eyes would just pop open, I would look at the clock or go to the bathroom and then back to sleep. The next morning I felt foggy in the head and that last until about noon. It lift some after 20 minutes of meditation.

    Last night I took 12 mg. before bed and none after midnight when I woke up about 4-5 time until getting up.

    I drank alcoholicly for about 35 years and I have heard at AA meetings that this will mess-up ones sleep also. I don't drink any alcohol anymore and haven't for a long time.

    Anyway, I am still experimenting with various amounts and brands of melatonin and with the level 3 Paths module.

      Hi Jim

      I just had a thought So thought I'd post it in case it was relevant and helped. I'm just wondering whether your sleep problem might have anything to do with chemicals or electricity? It was when you said about being foggy in the head. I myself have multiple chemical sensitivity so have read an awful lot of information surrounding this. And I'm very sensitive and can hear and feel vibrations and noises and smell things others can't! Whilst you would most likely know if you were sensitive to chemicals or emfs it might still be worth just thinking about your bedroom and whether for example there is anything electrical near where you sleep such as an electric blanket or electic alarm clock or a tv or computer. Also, there are so many chemicals in things like mattresses, bedding, carpets, curtains, furniture etc. So I don't know if you've got any new items of those. There could just be so many reasons why you're not sleeping well and it's most likely not anything to do with this! But as it occured to me I thought I'd throw it into the pot in case it was of use.

      And I really hope that you soon get success with the Paths and melatonin and can visit the land of nod for a wee bit longer!

        That's great advise about the electrical stuff Sunshine! All the wi-fi stuff messes with our pranic (vibrational) system and one part of prana...'soma', the cooling, nurturing (like the moon), stabalizing part of prana that helps us sleep. Wi-fi/EMF are edgy, chaotic, hot, burning, destroying soma and shrinking the channels we use to pull in pranic/vibrational energy.

        btw, Soma goes on to build the lubrication and structure in the body as well as ojas...our immunity, hormones and neurotransmitters.

        Yikes Jim....with less hours of sleep in a row, you're prob not getting your REM sleep!!!

          Thanks for the suggestion Sunshine and Ayurved! I am going to finish my experimenting with melatonin and Paths modules before I move on so that I can tell what works. I do have an electric clock by my bed but other than that there is nothing that should interfere.

          I'll let you know how this works out. Thanks again!

            He takes between 15 and 25 mg a night.

            Your mention of being foggy shows that the melatonin worked is being utilized by your body...the fogginess is from a little more than needed being still in your system when you awoke. This can be adjusted by taking it earlier or taking less.

            As I have mentioned before, I struggled with insomnia for decades. I could talk about it for hours...not only because *quality* sleep is so important to good health, and because I have had such a hard time with it for so many years, and because life is so full it sometimes feels like a waste of time to sleep, but also because I have learned so much about it along the way.

            I have finally found the balance of what works for me-

            PATHS Deep Sleep Module and 10 MG of Natrol Melatonin.

            HOWEVER, there are a few other things that can be very helpful...and if ignored could contribute to interrupted sleep-

            1. It must be dark in the room...no light. Light tells the body to start converting melatonin to serotonin. Serotonin gives energy...you do not want this to happen when sleeping (or trying to sleep).

            2. No noise, or no complete silence. Whatever you are used to. Many people sleep with a fan going so that that there is always a little noise going on...if that helps, then if you have complete silence that will wake you up. The IMPORTANT thing is no banging around, or patternless noise. Can't be quiet (or with fan running) and then periodically have traffic noise or doors opening and closing etc.

            3. It is beneficial to be physically tired when going to sleep. Whatever kind of exercise...walking, running, playing racquetball, chopping wood...engage in some sort of physical activity so that the body does not have restless energy when going to bed.

            It is possible to mentally exhausted from previous nights of lack of sleep and have the body still full of energy from not having exercised. This results in the desire for sleep (due to mental exhaustion) in direct conflict with a physical body that is full of energy and does not want to fall asleep or stay asleep.

            4. Slow wave Binaural beat soundtracks are VERY EFFECTIVE at slowing the mind down which will help in falling asleep. If listened to while asleep they will keep the brain in a slow wave, thus helping one to stay asleep.

            You can use a CD player or MP3 Player and put the soundtrack on repeat to continue playing all night long. This will help keep the brain waves in a slow state, encouraging continued, uninterrupted sleep. This will also help block out any incidental noise (traffic, etc.) than might awaken you.

              I downloaded the binaural beat MP3 download. I will need to get a player that will repeat as the file is 15 minutes long. I'll try to find one this week.

              I use wax ear plugs while I sleep.....mostly because my wife snores!!! I wake up easily from sleep.

              I slept OK last night, just woke up several times after midnight, and then right back to sleep again.

              I am guilty of eating a bowl of cereal before bed too. I could stop that and see if it helps.

                  Hi Jim,

                  I actually fell asleep last night thinking about this thread. lol

                  We all spend a lot of time/energy/money making 2/3rds of our lives more comfortable. Couches, chairs, cars, TV's, stereo's and the list could go on and on.

                  1/3rd of our life is spent sleeping, and probably gets the short end of the stick as far as attention to making it the best it can be.

                  A good bed and pillows can make a big difference. I have had a 3" Memory foam mattress topper for the last 8 years or so. I do not believe it helps me fall asleep or stay asleep, but I do believe it helps me get a better rest while I am asleep.

                  The above were just some thoughts I had falling asleep last night.

                  Simple carbs could definitely have an affect on being able to fall asleep/stay asleep.

                    I am not familiar with this technology.

                    For years I used a free CD and $15 cd player(with headphones) from walmart. I will say, I have broken quite a few headphones sleeping with them on.

                    This was prior to discovering the combination of PATHS and Melatonin.

                    I do still use the same CD soundtrack, but now just put the headphones under my pillow. I know that I am receiving no binaural effect that way...but from years of wearing them I believe the Pavlovian principle comes into play when I just hear the soundtrack. Oh, and I no longer use a CD player, now I am using an RCA MP3 Player that cost about $50.

                    Anyway, back to the Headphone-less Sleep System with Night Sounds CD, if it will lower your brainwaves, then it is accomplishing the purpose and could be useful.

                        I have to run to work right now, but I had to put my first two cents worth in really quickly!

                        Patience is a Virtue!!! I also had not slept in years when I started Paths... It took some time, but eventually I was able to give up my pills I took to help me sleep! I have to tell you it was right in the middle of my divorce which got a little messy that I was able to sleep on my own. Oh I was also still living in a shelter at the time, and I had two kids, no job, and and and... PATHS is awesome!

                        Change you self speak about your bedtime and sleep habits. I live next door to a guy who thinks it is perfectly ok for his dogs to bark incessantly! He gets almost violent if I ask him to control his dogs and he seeks revenge if I call the cops... So I started praising the peace and quiet and how much I loved how quiet the dogs were... I started this whilst they were barking... They quieted down for some time, then I stopped praising the silence I enjoy so much, and the dogs started barking today! Praise a full nights sleep and be thankful for it all day long. Just expect it to be peaceful and wonderful!

                        Ok, now I am cutting it tooo close for work, so I am off of here!

                            Hello zartgirl,

                            Thank you for the input. I went to the Deep Sleep level 4 today. I an sleeping "OK" but just wake up and fall back to sleep ever hour or two after midnight. I feel refreshed after meditating and exercising in the morning. I am getting sleepy in the late afternoon and early evening. I kind of snap out of it after eating dinner around 5:30 PM but start getting sleepy around 7 PM again. I don't go to bed until 8:45 PM so I am getting sleepy a little too early.

                            Thanks for the tips....I'll give them a try.
