  • Cycling Module Discussion

To help shed some light on the different PATHS Modules, and what they do, we will be posting the different Module descriptions in here so that you can share your experiences and ask any questions you may have about the Module. We look forward to your responses!

This Module was created to increase your ability to excel in the area of bicycling. Balance, strength, endurance and cycling techniques are all addressed. It is also designed to heighten awareness for added safety when riding.

In addition to this, it can also help you to foster an attitude of confidence that will be of great assistance while practicing and competing.

This Module can assist your mind and body’s ability to:

    Increase balance

    Increase awareness (defensive riding)

    Increase muscle strength

    Increase energy

    Increase confidence

    Shorten muscle recovery time

    Increase coordination

    Increase willingness to prepare

This Module has 2 different versions: One for those above 18 and one for those who are less than 18. No alterations will be needed unless the child is less than 6 years of age.

This Module is ideal for kids and teens involved in the sport, as it will help foster the physical and mental qualities needed to excel.

    Looks good!

    Hey Paths,

Does the cycling module address "cadence"?? If it does, that's excellent -- most peoples leg speed is more like that a runner instead of a recommended 85-90 rpm that makes the body/engine more efficient. Some extra muscle coordination is required and a more of a "pedaling in circles" pedal stroke helps as well instead of stomping on them - in a sense.

    Thanks,
    Doug

The Module does not promote a specific range of rpm as cadence comfort levels vary from person to person, however, it does address optimum exertion for energy maintenance, speed and control, based on the action being performed.
