This is fascinating, thanks for posting this Sharyn.

The discussions on motivation were interesting, but I couldn't help but wonder if all they really uncovered was that people do not work well under pressure when the difficulty is raised, and people excel doing something they love with minimal expectation on the outcome.

It could be the pursuit of purpose and mastery or maybe its just increased performance with the removal of plain old crippling fear...
