  • High Self Esteem Equals True Humility

It may sound contradictory to many people, but there is a logic to it...

High self esteem (genuine high self esteem, not inflated ego - that would be low self esteem ) means knowing for certain that you are deserving, loved, loveable, secure, safe... and so on. This in turn results in not needing to hang onto stuff/ people/ experiences. It also comes with the knowledge that you can't get what you think you need - from someone else.

It also means that you're happy for others to be as they are, do and say what they do and say, and to believe whatever they believe because nothing they do can threaten or take away from you.

Practical Results of High Self Esteem

High self esteem results in financial stability, rewarding relationships, happy work, physical health, and so on - because a person with high self esteem will look after themselves better - in all areas of their life - because they genuinely believe they're worth it.

... I'm getting to the humility bit, bear with me ....

A person with high self esteem has an inbuilt feeling of security, a knowledge that someone else having, doesn't take away from them having. They don't feel threatened by the success (or failure) of others. They have no resentment towards others because they know that they are perfectly capable of getting whatever it is the need and want.

This means that they are able to be genuinely humble. Low self esteem harbours resentment, greed, fear, jealousy, whereas a person with high self esteem can look at someone who has a skill they admire, and they can feel truly humbled by it - because they don't see the fact that they don't have that skill themselves as a weakness, they don't need to have the skill themselves to feel worthy - they can genuinely admire it in someone else - with true humility, free from any negative undertones or influences.

I hope this makes sense the way I've described it - it makes sense in my head LOL, but it's tricky to explain it in writing.

Aiming to develop genuine high self esteem will result in a lot more besides true humility of course, and the LOA - if it's interpretted the right way - does a lot to help develop high self esteem.

It does make sense, beautifully put, too. It's something I've applied professionally with great success: the idea that you don't have to have every skill. One of my best kept secrets in IT work is my network of experts I chat to, and am happy to help out with hardware diagnostics or simple data recovery, because that's what they recognise my expertise is in. Between us, there's not much that can go wrong with a computer network we can't troubleshoot and fix. And that professional humility, recognising I have friends who know more than I do, is an ASSET, it makes me money and make my clients really happy. I find as long as I'm generous with my time and expertise when they have a need, they tend to reciprocate. I doesn't cross my mind how rare that must be, but instead of competing to get each other's jobs, we just help each other finish jobs. Just makes sense in some circles, wish more people could see it that way.

The royal family had no beauties until Diana came along.
She was a beautiful young woman Charles didn't deserve and neither did any of the Windsors.
