I've been wondering for some time if you can consider a UFO standing wave of in free air. We hear of planes chased by these things while being tracked by radar. So we have a plane with a charge and a radar beam with a periodic oscillation. In plasma you can create a standing wave that will hold in place a pocket of condensed plasma.
Likewise the are often spotted near nuclear weapons which I can only imagine have a very large potential between the atoms of the fissionable elements. Under such pressure the standing potential may be projected away from the charged core causing a region in open air that can be ionized and lit up as above. The oscillator in this scenario would be the atoms them selves.
Thoughts?
