    Underwater

I am positive on the inhaling and exhalin part, but that said i am not sure on as to whether air is just making its way through to my lungs without breath. If that is the case then how am i getting rid of the bad gas.
I have tried a couple of time blocking my nasil passage with little avail. There are a few reasons first off i have to enter a kind of state of mind so i can just straight of stop breathing. Also i think but nor sure i maintain a cavity in my chest which seems to be inhibited by clamping my nose.

I don't know that I find not breathing for extended periods of time impossible nor implausible. It seems to me that I've read of yogis that stick their heads in sand and do it for extended periods of time; longer than a couple of hours...very lengthy stints.

      http://www.dzogchen.ws/hypno/page.php?pg=1941

Here is an excerpt of a yogi that shut his whole body down for six weeks. The story is found under the heading, "The BAck to Life Miracle".

Perhaps a better source would be some kind of yogi to help you out.

Being able to survive without breathing for an hour or longer sounds/seems unbelievable.

However, it does appear to warrant more research.

Does anyone have any links to some repeatable experiments done on this subject?

        TIA

dmonarch, From what you describe, and from what i experienced, it would say it is more Yin.
I have not experienced anything near the length of time you mentioned, and i do not for sure if it is actually the same as you, but it sure sounds similar to what i was experiencing during a period of my life some number of years ago when i was meditating regularly. Funny thing was that it took some years after i stopped mediating to realize that that is what people called meditation. It was something i "just did" at times, but also was sort of guided to do so when i was very ill over some years.

It was like feeling yourself toward, or into the stillness/ calm place. Very inward awareness focused. Kind of like you are at one with every aspect of you/ self. completely in the now. (well, at least at the peak of it at times it was) It was as if there were no in or out breath at all. I have asked several people that have been at length with inner journeys and alternative experiences, but no one has been able to explain or confirm anything.

On some occasions in the experience i was contemplating where the breathing was occurring, and was feeling my energy energy field, my body and sensing the outer peripherals. I was not sure if it was my mind thinking it, or if sensing/ intuiting breathing through the skin.

            Thanks for the reply.

I am very interested in this subject, and would like to see some documentation of this.

If this is possible, it seems like it could be very cathartic.

            TIA

In Gerald's Remote Viewing/Remote Influencing course he talks about focusing one's attention on the space in the gap between inhalation/exhalation. It is a well known place of connection to all that is as found in the Kabbalah and other mystical schools and as described by dmonarch.

It sounds plausible to reach some type of deep balance between intake and exhaling of air. Its the stopping completely that has me puzzled.

Here is an interesting article on holding your breath and how the magician who currently holds the world record pulled it off.

While I think its a bad practice to say anything is impossible, there are physiological certainties that take place when you hold your breath. Initially its your body trying to get you to breath again, but eventually they say things start shutting down, you black out and begin breathing again while you are unconscious.

I find you comments about maintaining a cavity in your chest interesting and how clamping your nose inhibits this. Can you expand on that a bit? Also, have you ever tried this underwater?

There are ways to breath by stomach hole. I see someone practicing it before. Unfortunately I forgot what it's name and where I seen it. Maybe it was some degree of yoga commonly use in martial arts community. I think some shaolin practicer may have this kind knowledge too.
