i thought i would post in this topic, as i am really interested in this field of research.

i have been tinkering with pendulums for about two years now, and i have VERY mixed results.

i have tried single blind tests with decks of cards, and i can honestly say that my results were no better than chance. even when dowsing for Red or Black, i still have not been able to CONSISTENTLY hit the mark.
now i must clarify here that i believe that wording, or mental states must be crucial to this. i say this because there were a few special moments were i got the exact color, AND exact number right. the trick was the wording. i had to try and extablish what my mind understood as the "face" of the card, and also what the true numerical value was. lets say i have the 3 of spades. sometimes my dowsing would result in a cumulative number of ALL the 3's on the face of the card -or- 3333. in another test it was the SUM of the 3's -or- 12. and when it came to jack, queen, king, ace, i had a terrible time trying to assign a picture to a value.
in one test i asked if there were interferances to my dowsing and i got a "yes". to my surprise i concluded that the intricate pattern on the back of the cards are designed to prevent ALL forms of cheating, including dowsing. (with Bicycle cards only)

i have tried many different materials for the pendulum, i have tried divining rods(mu conscious mind always interferes with the rods) and many others and that also has different results. you can "ask" the pendulum as to what material best suits you, and you should get an answer. i usually use a stainless steel ring, but it is greatly influenced by leigh lines, magnetism and many other things. when dowsing for my "perfect" pendulum, mine came out to be a wooden Cheops pyramid, suspended from the base (upside down)
i have yet to make this pendulum, and i wonder what the results would be..

i seem to be most accurate when it comes to energy, orgone, ether, chi or whatever, but there is no way to verify the numbers. i have also tried to dowse electricity, voltages, and amps, but i am always way off.

I wonder how much of one's own intention factors in here.

If you believe it can work, is that what makes it work and vice versa?

I use certain things to get answers. It's never anything I hinge major decisions on, just data for me to know.

I even seem to know that it will tell me the answer that is best for me to know at the time, even if it is not the actual outcome.

I can't remember if I asked for this to work exactly.

The way I remember it is I wondered if it would work, and just open-mindedly started asking questions and observing the accuracy of the results.

At this point, it seems sometimes amazing how it will predict certain things. Answers to questions that don't seem logical at the time but play out just as the readings showed.

However, it also seems important to me that I don't hinge major decisions directly on the answers, just use them for overall guidance and knowledge.

i think trying to predict things can be mentally disturbing... even if you get the correct answer. anticipation can sometimes be worse than not knowing.

An interesting true story on use of the Pendulum

          Hi,
I have a some friends that used the pendulum of sorts to dowse topography maps for gold.
Their history is unique. Our friends Mother had a large rather well known Spiritualistic Church in Canada during the 30's, so he was raised with all this stuff as normal.
Back in the 60's he and his step Father would get topography maps of the California foothills and dowse them for gold their accuracy was 100%. They had it down to the point of knowing how much how deep etc. Needless to say they owned several mines and did quite well off of them They used an aura meter for this.
We had the opportunity to experience their ability in this area more than once.

Now, on another note I learned how to control the pendulum and make it say whatever I wanted it to say even if you were the one that was holding it. So yes I think that you effect it and if you believe you can control it you will. Try it and you will see what I mean.

On the use of cards, the best use of a deck of playing cards is an exercise in perfecting your natural psychic ( which everyone has) abilities.
Get a deck of cards, and you are only going to do red and black. Shuffle them good. Then go through them one at a time, facing down " fast". Set the ones you think are red in one pile face down and the blacks in another pile face down. It is important to do fast and to not try and decide how many of what you have.
If you practice this often, you will begin to know when you are right and learn to decipher the internal chatter from the real information. With practice you can get to 100% on this as well. Everyone can do this!!!!
Later if you want you can begin with the suit, numbers, face card etc. but stick with the red/black at first.

            Pendulum

I might go a bit of subject but I believe that the functioning mechanism is the same.

I was attempting to use a pendulum and I would always get strong answers the first few days. Slowly they would become fuzzy. Also the idea that I needed to carry it with me and so on became too much for me. So I turned to muscle testing.

I thought the principle was the same, the subconscious would control the muscles or be the mediator. I have been using it now for 2+ months. Everyday almost about everything. Especially to do or not to do questions. I have noticed that I have the ability to manupilate it and just like was noted on a previous post, the wording is critical. I would eveen say the mental wording (again mentioned earlier), which many times is more of a feeling rather then words, is critical. I have not done any card reading tests yet, but I will give it a try see what I get. It has helped me make some very interesting decisions. Since I believe it is the higher me behind all of this, I feel comfortable in trusting the technique. More testing on the way.

              Had to chime in here!

I learned growing up to use the pendelum and to dowse for water with my dad as to where to drill his well for his development company.

As far as what kind pendelum... I use whatever I have available! The few weeks ago, I wanted to ask some questions, so I grabbed my keys (my keys hang on a long necklace type thing around my neck on a ribbon) and they worked just fine!

I did not even know that you could buy special crystal ones??? LOL!

I have heard that muscle testing is more reliable, but I am no expert on that... Although my daughter came home yesterday and in her English class she had learned about muscle testing! I guess one of the boys in class had thrown an eraser or two, and no one was talking, so she muscle tested the three boys she thought it might be, and low and behold she found out which boy it was! I thought this was rather ingenious! My daughter Iza is in 8th grade!

                Learning to use a pendulum

I noticed that Walt Woods', "A Letter to Robin" wasn't mentioned in this thread. It is a mini-course in learning to use a pendulum, but of course, the big thing is practice, practice, practice. Be sure to click on the About Us" section because I noticed that Mr. Woods has written a book titled, "Powers That Be" which looks interesting.
Letter To Robin: A Mini-Course in Pendulum Dowsing

Don't forget to review the Raymon Grace thread that was posted recently because he has several DVDs on dowsing.

                  Well Actually...

Well actually Walt Woods was kind of mentioned in the post above... Walt Woods to me is Uncle Walter (my uncle through marriage)! Hmmmm... I married his nephew, and am currently divorcing his nephew now. His wife also taught my cousins kids in elementary school... I have not talked to Uncle Walter since Aunt Joyce passed away. The small town I am from is very small!

Uncle Walter is a very interesting person to talk with. I have always enjoyed their visits and talking to him, although I would understand a whole lot more now than I did the last time I talked to him, with all I have been learning here! I will have to go check out his web site. I have never actually done that before, actually I did not know he had a web site! It has been a few years since I have talked to him (actually it has been a few years since my x has talked to his uncle.)

Thanks for posting his web site... I am looking forward to studying it and seeing what he is up to these days!

                    Ooops!

I guess I did not post the original post with the mention of Uncle Walter! I know I had written it and then edited some of the post, and somehow I must have left that part out! Hehehee! Oh Well!

                      Hey Zartgirl...

Lucky you to personally know Walt Woods (sorry about divorcing his nephew). His dowsing chart is featured in Raymon Grace's booklet, Techniques That Work For Me. Mr. Grace is a local celebrity of sorts...he dowsed a situation for my husband and I'm grateful for the information he provided.

Maybe Uncle Walt will send you an autographed copy of his new book!
