I would bet on that being a fake, simply because they had no desire to film it for longer than a minute.
The only thing fakers do is convert skepics into deniers. Wish they would find better ways to waste theyre time.

Continuing your line of thought I'd like to know who shot the video and how they "happened" to be in the right place at the right time with the right equipment to shoot such a great video as opposed to the usual shaky, grainy stuff we see?

On the other hand , if it is a hoax, why bother to do it over China years earlier?

I had no doubt you saw some report(s) of this missile exploding (if such it was), but I think this only points out how varied and unreliable reporting has become. Any story will have as many versions in the media as there are reports, with many details omitted or included or distorted. The video certainly shows no explosion, only what would have been an engine failure.(or maybe they didn't put enough gas in and it just ran out? )

IF it was a missile then perhaps the spiral as it failed and the fuel used are unique to this missile, along with other elements (such as it's new guidance system) which contribute to the spiral, etc. and may contribute to it's failure. Also, I saw a comment about it taking place at night so the sun could not have been a factor, but it is stated in several reports that it took place just before daybreak and you can clearly see dawn breaking in the background and the effect of the sun's rays when the missile got high enough.
The circular pattern could be attributed to the missile turning away from the camera as it spirals, in which case we are looking at the bottom of a spiral which is going away from the camera and therefore appears to be a circle.

I am only presenting some options here for what is seen in the video. There are still many unanswered questions, which will probably remain so.

In 1993 I watched a fantastic display coming from the Dundurn military base just south of Saskatoon.
Similar in some ways, but it went on for hours on a regular cycle and it wasn't blue, but orange, red and purple.
Thing was, a huge rain storm occurred that night as well which kept most people indoors and they missed it (started after midnight), it was sheer accident that I saw what I did (or synchronicity ).
I have no pictures as it was just chance which allowed me to see this, but it was an eye-opener for sure.
The military do not tell us what they work on....it's classified.
