  • Map dowsing

    Hi everyone
Has anyone tried map dowsing ?
It's a good way to kill time and hone a few skills as well.
I like to do it as a game as this creates a positive energy and normally unreceptive people are usually willing to "play" and not ruin the vibe with negativity.
First you draw a rough map of the house, or if you're outside the yard or area you in.
Then you get an object (something someone has an emotional attachment to is best) and let everyone see and touch it if they want.
Then the object is hidden somewhere that will be seen on the map.
To eliminate one persons results influencing others the map can be copied and everyone can have their own map,but this is not necessary it can all be done on 1 map.
Everyone then dowses to find the object and marks where they think it's hidden on the map/maps.
Some of the most resistant pig headed sceptics turn out to be excellent dowsers and it cant be a "spark in the dark" so to speak and really open their minds.
Try it with a group of kids and you will be amazed, they will accept it without question and a lot of them are natural dowsers.

This sounds like fun. But how do you go about dowsing to find the object?

      Hi Pamela
I use a pendulum to dowse. Apparently anything will do for a pendulum. I've heard that U.S. soldiers are taught to dowse for water using a shoelace and a metal nut or anything with a bit weight that can be easily tied to a string (I don't know how true that is)but a ring is convenient and works well.
I've found a good length for the string is the length of your wrist to the inside of your elbow or the length of your foot (they're both the same) if the string is longer just loop it up in the hand holding the string.
I subscribe to the theory of T Lobsang Rampa - your subconcious mind does the work and is in touch with something (the Aether ?) and can give you answers for anything if you know how to ask.
The idea is that your subconcious mind is a genius and it's too busy to be bothered by mundane things on the concious level. In order to make contact with the subconcious Rampa said you have to ask it three times to make it drop what it is doing and pay attention to your concious mind. eg Subconcious I am going to dowse I need your help, Subconcious I am going to dowse I need your help, Subconcious I am going to dowse I need your help.
Then you swing the pendulum in a circlular motion, then stop spinning the pendulum and ask - show me a yes, and take note of the direction of the pendulums movement as it starts to settle.
After this verify the answer by asking is my name Pamela ?
The direction it moves should be the same as the direction it moved for show me a yes.
By now you should have established a movement pattern for a yes answer.
For me the pendulum swings in a forward and back motion for yes and a side to side motion for a no answer, but everyone is different.
You must always ask specific question that can be answered with a yes or no, this seems to be the most important aspect of dowsing for anything.
Now you get someone to hide an object in the area drawn on the map (without your knowledge of where it is).
Then you start by asking for help 3 times, verify your yes answer, and then you place your finger above an area on the map and say is the (hidden object - say what it is here ie ring ) in this area, and note the pendulums movement.
Move your finger around the map and do it until you get a yes answer, and when you do try to zero in on the object by moving your finger around while asking is it here ?
After each answer you receive you have swing the pendulum again before the next question.
Rampa said when you make contact with your subconcious it is a good idea to give it a name and ask it if the name is suitable. If you get a yes answer then you contact your subconcious by saying, for example if you got a yes for wonder woman when assigning a name you would say Wonder Woman I am going to dowse I need your help, and repeat it 2 times, and then verify the yes answer with a question you know is correct ie my name is Pamela.
From then on your subconcious will be referred to as Wonder Woman, unless you decide to change the name, just ask for your subconcious' agreement.
Rampa said not to tell anyone this name. Top secret.
Also Rampa said when you've finished dowsing to hold the pendulum to your forehead between your palms and thank your subconcious 3 times by name.

I don't know if all this ritual is important and for a party or a gathering with sceptics it can be dropped altogether.
Just get them to spin the pedulum in a circle and say "show me a yes" as they stop spinning it and hold their hand still.
And then verify the yes by saying eg "my name is John" or whatever their name is, and they will get good results.

If you spend a bit more time and build a rapport with your subconcious and do the Rampa type ritual, you will get much better at dowsing much quicker.
Sorry to go on and on but I hope it helps.

Thanks Higgs. As it turns out, I do have a pendulum which I use occasionally. However, I have not given my subconscious a name nor do I normally ask the question three times. I usually ask once, wait for an answer, and if one is not forthcoming, I will ask again or I will ask for clarification.

I have had mixed results using a pendulum. Maybe I wil try some of the steps you mentioned to see if I can get consistently better results.
        Namaste,

This really sounds like a fun game.

Here's a link with an extensive bit about dowsing. But if you scroll almost all the way to the bottom there's a small bit of information about map dowsing. Home

Also I know this isn't dowsing, but here's a link to kinesiology testing, which could be useful when you're in a public place and don't wanna bring out a pendulum and be stared at with slack jaws. Kinesiology Testing @ Perelandra

Do you have any other games? I need a way to do some dowsing practice and to verify the results so I can see that I can show my conscious mind that it works.

What about doing the map game over the internet? Or how about posting questions to which only you know the answer to and then others can post their answers, to which later you can reply what the answers are. If three or more people were doing this we could all get some dowsing practice and become very proficient quickly.

Any other ideas to become more proficient quicker? More games to play? Questions that I could ask and verify the results with later? I've been asking questions, but some of the questions I already know the answer to. And the other questions I don't have a way to verify the answers to show myself that what I'm doing is working.

Ah, I just thought of a game. Get a stack of playing cards. Keep the cards face down. Pull one card off the top of the deck and ask "is this a red card." Then make two piles of cards, one pile red, one pile black. It also may be necessary to use a deck of cards with a blue backing or other color besides red or black. And it may be a better question to ask, "is the face color of this card red".

I used to do something using the deck of cards a while ago. I would shuffle the cards, draw off one card, look at it and commit it to memory. Put it in the deck shuffle the deck again. Then I would begin pulling cards off one by one while the deck is face down. And I would pull the cards off without looking at em and put em in their own pile. I would take cards from the top and from the bottom of the deck. I would do this until I got to 3-6 cards or so left. Then I would pull out cards until I only had the one card left that I chose. The card I chose was consistently in the last few cards left. And many times I would be able to single out the card I chose out of the last few left. I started to write down all my results, but I would consistently get the card I chose so I quit keeping track.

I thought of that game after reading about using a deck of cards and seperating em by color. That's where I read that it was important to have a deck with a blue backing so that it wouldn't interfere with the results. Or at least a backing color that's different than the face colors.

Sorry for that little bit of OT.
If you've made it this far then I've finally quit rambling.

            Thanks wantfreeenergy
That's a cool site about dowsing.
I have learned a few of the things on there through experience but there was also a lot I didn't know
I dowsed for my length of string and it was a bit longer than suggested, maybe it's time for a tune up. The shorter length is certainly quicker too.
The Baxter effect has intrigued the crap out of me since I read about it in The Secret Life of Plants.
Coincidentally my brother is a Kinesiologist and we once used kinesiology to heal a sick tree.
It's funny how a lot of these things come together in the most unexpected ways
I don't really have any other games of this nature but I do like the idea of an internet game.
Maybe a treasure hunt or a quest with several stages.
We may even find the next Uri Geller
