Sun Unleashes Spectacular Earth-Directed Coronal Mass Ejection | Space

On Jan. 13, 2013, at 2:24 a.m. EST, the sun erupted with an Earth-directed coronal mass ejection or CME. Not to be confused with a solar flare, a CME is a solar phenomenon that can send solar particles into space and reach Earth one to three days later.




Experimental NASA research models, based on observations from the Solar Terrestrial Relations Observatory (STEREO) and the ESA/NASA mission the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO), show that the CME left the sun at speeds of 275 miles per second. This is a fairly typical speed for CMEs, though much slower than the fastest ones, which can be almost ten times that speed.

Black is still the most popular colour for cars on the road, but white is fast overtaking.

Latest figures show there is a growing demand with sales of white models rising eightfold over the past six years.

Dark colours show dust and scratches more readily than white versions which keep their forecourt look longer because of new paints and high quality finishes.

The evolutionary theory of blood groups that is also used by D'Adamo stems from work by William C. Boyd in 1950, an immunochemist and blood type anthropologist who made a worldwide survey of the distribution of blood groups. In his book Genetics and the races of man: An introduction to modern physical anthropology, published in 1950, Boyd describes how by genetic analysis of blood groups, modern humans, or homo sapiens, are populations that differ according to their alleles. On this basis, Boyd divided the world population into 13 geographically distinct species with slightly different frequency distributions of blood group genes.

D'Adamo groups those thirteen races together by ABO blood group, each type within this group having unique dietary recommendations:

Blood group O is described by D'Adamo to be the hunter, his perception of the earliest human blood group. The diet recommends that this blood group eat a higher protein diet, presumably since O blood type is alleged by D'Adamo as the first blood type that he believes originated 30,000 years ago. However, research indicates that blood type A is actually the oldest.[10] ( all truth is half truth )

Blood group A is called the agrarian or cultivator by D'Adamo, where he believes a more recently evolved blood type dates from the dawn of agriculture 20,000 years ago. The diet recommends that individuals of blood group A eat a diet emphasizing vegetables and free of red meat, a more vegetarian food intake.

Blood group B is the nomad says D'Adamo, associated with a strong immune system and a flexible digestive system. He asserts that people of blood type B are the only ones who can thrive on dairy products and D'Adamo estimates blood type B arrived 10,000 years ago. However, this contradicts the fact that people with blood type B tend to be from Asia (specifically, China or India), and not from northern Europe, whereas lactose intolerance is most common among people of Asian, South American, and African descent and least common among those descended from northern Europe or northwestern India.[11][12][13]

Blood group AB is the enigma as described by D'Adamo, who believes it is the most recently evolved type arriving less than 1,000 years ago. In terms of dietary needs, his blood type diet treats this group as an intermediate between blood types A and B.

Next time you're in need of a spiritual pick-me-up, maybe you should forego the traditional houses of worship and seek out the technophile's temple instead: the Apple Store.

According to two academics at Texas A & M University, Apple products aren't just consumer-friendly, sexy gadgets, but instruments of the divine.

"[Apple] could offer a religious-like experience. It could basically perform the same role in people's lives that being part of a religious community could, at one time," said Heidi Campbell, a communications professor who co-wrote an academic paper exploring the religious myths and metaphors surrounding the tech giant and its larger-than-life founder and CEO, Steve Jobs.

In "How the iPhone Became Divine," which was published in a new media journal earlier this summer, Campbell and her colleague Antonio La Pastina look at Apple customers as religious devotees.

"It's basically a study of religion and technology and how religious language and images got associated with the iPhone," said Campbell.
