So far, the researchers have revealed about 40 percent of the mosaic. The floor is in 'pristine' condition, and would have fronted an open-air marble swimming pool flanked by porticos.

The mosaic, which once decorated the floor of a bath complex, abuts a 25-foot (7-meter)-long pool, which would have been open to the air, said Michael Hoff, a University of Nebraska, Lincoln art historian and director of the mosaic excavation. The find likely dates to the third or fourth century, Hoff said. The mosaic itself is an astonishing 1,600 square feet (149 square meters) — the size of a modest family home.

"To be honest, I was completely bowled over that the mosaic is that big," Hoff told LiveScience.

First of all we'll look at some of Nikola Tesla's historic experiments to get an idea of the relationship between disk spacing, horsepower, torque, and efficiency. Tesla started out building a 6-inch turbine followed by a 12-inch, 9.75-inch, 18-inch and finally a 60-inch. With the smaller turbines he used a disk spacing of .03 inches (0.8mm), with disc thickness the same (.03").

Once he moved to 18-inch diameter disks, he increased both the disk thickness and spacing between them to .0625 inches (1.6mm). While working with the Allis Chalmers company of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, his largest design -- a 60-inch diameter turbine -- was built using a disk thickness and spacing of 0.125 inches (3.2mm). (some of the last measure don't follow the 369 principle .... maybe wrong or needs readjustement )

Tesla's 10-inch turbine produced 110 horsepower, his 18-inch produced 200-300 hp, and the 60-inch produced 675 hp. Tesla also mentioned in his aircraft designs that for maximum efficiency the exhaust port should be reduced, but for maximum horsepower the exhaust size should be increased. In addition, Tesla stated that the greatest efficiency is achieved when the disks rotate at the speed of the fluid, but maximum torque is realized when the disks rotate at just over 50% of the fluid speed.

Other factors that affect efficiency and power are the same as those affecting aircraft, cars or any aerodynamically sensitive object: surface finish and geometry.

To put it plainly, it is virtually impossible to calculate the obtainable torque and horsepower due to aerodynamic complexities; however, if you follow the basic design and construction methods already established, you will achieve results that are relatively close to Tesla's experiments.

If a similar set of disks and a housing with an involute shape (versus circular for the turbine) are used, the device can be used as a pump. In this configuration a motor is attached to the shaft. The fluid enters near the center, is given energy by the disks, then exits at the periphery. The Tesla turbine does not use friction in the conventional sense; precisely, it avoids it, and uses adhesion (the Coandă effect) and viscosity instead. It utilizes the boundary layer effect on the disc blades.

Smooth rotor disks were originally proposed, but these gave poor starting torque. Tesla subsequently discovered that smooth rotor disks with small washers bridging the disks in ~12–24 places around the perimeter of a 10″ disk ( actually 9.75" ) and a second ring of 6–12 washers at a sub-diameter made for a significant improvement in starting torque, without compromising efficiency.

Larry Young, a professor of psychiatry at Emory University who studies the neurological basis of complex social behaviors, thinks human evolution has harnessed an ancient neural circuit that originally evolved to strengthen the mother-infant bond during breast-feeding, and now uses this brain circuitry to strengthen the bond between couples as well. The result? Men, like babies, love breasts.

When a woman’s nipples are stimulated during breast-feeding, the neurochemical oxytocin, otherwise known as the “love drug,” ( see also : http://www.energeticforum.com/psychi...tml#post206207 ) floods her brain, helping to focus her attention and affection on her baby. But research over the past few years has shown that in humans, this circuitry isn’t reserved for exclusive use by infants.Recent studies have found that nipple stimulation enhances sexual arousal in the great majority of women, and it activates the same brain areas as vaginal and clitoral stimulation. When a sexual partner touches, massages or nibbles a woman’s breasts, Young said, this triggers the release of oxytocin in the woman’s brain, just like what happens when a baby nurses. But in this context, the oxytocin focuses the woman’s attention on her sexual partner, strengthening her desire to bond with this person.

In other words, men can make themselves more desirable by stimulating a woman’s breasts during foreplay and sex. Evolution has, in a sense, made men want to do this.

Attraction to breasts “is a brain organization effect that occurs in straight males when they go through puberty,” Young told Life’s Little Mysteries. “Evolution has selected for this brain organization in men that makes them attracted to the breasts in a sexual context, because the outcome is that it activates the female bonding circuit, making women feel more bonded with him. It’s a behavior that males have evolved in order to stimulate the female’s maternal bonding circuitry.”

About the Masnavi

The "Masnavi" is Rumi's greatest poetic work, composed during the last years of his life. He began it when he was between the ages of 54-57 [about 1258-1261]1 and continued composing its verses until he died in 1273 (with the last story remaining incomplete). It is a compendium of sufi stories, ethical teachings, and mystical teachings. It is deeply permeated with Qur'anic meanings and references. Rumi himself called the Masnavi "the roots of the roots of the roots ( Fractal ) of the (Islamic) Religion... and the explainer of the Qur'an

The Masnavi is divided into six books, and Rumi wrote prefaces for each book. The earliest complete manuscript (the "Konya manuscript") was completed in December, 1278 (five years after Rumi's death). In a recent printed edition of this manuscript (by Dr. Tτfξq Sobhβnξ), the total number of lines is 25,575 (Book I, 4019 lines; II, 3721; III,4811; IV, 3855; V, 4240; VI, 4929) R. A. From line 2836, onwards, however, his printed edition is based on the Konya manuscript.
