  • AV plug information overload

Searching for specific AV plug related information has taken me Everywhere but given me nothing and everything.

What I am looking for is:
What type of diode works best? Does it matter?
What type of LED works best? Does it matter?
Is there more then one way to wire them up? Does it matter?

By best I mean gives signal with least imput.

    Thanks,

Fast diodes works best , and such of low voltage drop also is nice if you are working with low voltages. 1N4148 for example are good for voltages below 70V. I would search for Schottly diodes personally or the fastest you can get but properly rated to input voltage.

If you're looking at very tiny amounts of voltage (e.g., crystal radio type setup) , I'd recommend a germanium diode, as they drain very little away from the circuit. As Boguslaw said, it needs to be chosen according to the voltage, and of course, switching speed is an important consideration.
