It seems I have a problem visualizing what the field looks like in a tightly wound Caduceus coil I am not talking about a caduceus that crosses the coils far apart but a coil where one layer is tightly would say clockwise and a second coil is equally tightly wound on top of first coil counter-clockwise.
Is the longitudinal field still inside the coil windings, around the coils, ???
As you all know the caduceus is usually shown with the two coil crossings far apart; however, this does not have to be the case. In actual fact the coils can be tightly wound to achieve the greatest effect.
