That would be the LM350, but be careful and check the power dissipation it doesn't necessarily mean 3 amps at the max rated voltage. Heat sink and fan will raise the out put Amps.

The rest of us have learned patients from following UFO.

Now, there is a superior one to the LM317, that allows 3Amps...not sure which one is but it is within the LM3 numbers...and it is not the LM337 Negative V Reg...that goes same 1.4 A...

      Hey Ufo,

Thanks for clarifying in what context Asymmetry can be used. I was only approaching this from a single perspective of inbalances.
More research is needed to ascertain the total scope of how asymmetry interacts with Electrodynamic machines and their relationship to the variables

      (My quote)

I see this Asymmetrical motor concept just as Tesla desribes (patent 524,426) with the inbalance in the length of the pole pieces cause a magnetic phase difference. Each set of coil pairs will exhibit a time delay in proportion to the core of the coils length and thus create an inbalance of magnetic flux to each coil pair.

      (End)

Nope...You got it "kind" of wrong there...

Asymmetry DOES NOT refers to the structural, nor the disposition of coils, Nor the length ...BUT, to The Way they Interact between each others.
Not by "Unbalance" either, my friend...they could be perfectly balanced, and as a matter of fact, an unbalanced electrodynamic machine will never run "even"...or "balanced"...

Asymmetry refers to an Asymmetrical Interaction, where Pairs or Groups of Coils are NOT aligned TO INTERACT in a "Symmetrical Array"...Capische?

Symmetrical Interactions mean to "Self Cancelling Magnetic Fields" in a "Symmetrical Fashion"...like Tom Bearden writes...Killing the Dipole in every turn.
Now whenever you leave that Coil or Dipole free, idling for a few seconds...then you broke the Symmetry...

      I hope you understood now...

      Regards my friend

      >>>

There is an abundant amount of variables that I could implement as to what context the asymmetrical systems will be achieved in your Tesla inspired designs. Time will tell.
Looking forward to the "Asymmetrical Motor" clip my friend

I have to interject here as I had read you state this before. Putting the fets in parallel only increases the amount of current they will handle, but doesn't increase the voltage they can handle. In order to increase the voltage they could handle you would need to series them and that would present it's own set of problems to this circuit. Tell me what I am missing.

What about LM350? It is pin compatible to LM317. The input voltage over output voltage is 35V at LM340 while 40 V at LM317. Look for a local source at eBay i.e.

The 3 Amps are good for instant high current surges. But please take in account that a TO220 case will enable less than 2 Watt heat dissipation without additional cooling - independent of the semiconductor contained therein (LM340, LM350, LM317, LM7812).

          Example: LM317
Thermal resistance chip to case = 4 Kelvin / Watt
Thermal resistance case to ambient = 50 Kelvin / Watt
          Total: 54 Kelvin / Watt

          Ambient = 25 °C (enclosed in a case will rise i.e. up to 45 °C)
          Total chip temperature: 150°C
          Differential: 125 °C

          Calculation:
          Free air: 125 °C / 54 °C per Watt = 2.3 Watt as absolut maximum
          In a case: 105 °C / 54 °C per Watt = 1.9 Watt as absolut maximum

This chip does not die if temperature exeeded but will reduce current and thus stop its function as regualtor.

Finally I found the circuit schematic I lost many years ago. It is a kind of jewels we should always have !

12 Volt 30 Amp Power Supply

a way to construct stabilized large amperage power supply using limited output current IC. I bet the same could be done using lm317.

            Hope that helps.

              Hello Larry,

Yes I know Fet's in Parallel will increase Amps...that is what I meant by "robust"...

Sorry about my Non Patient "Statements" written above...Larry!!...

The Fet's I use (NTE2397) are rated 400Volts...I still, have blown many...but, because of my errors...

                  EFTV # 5 + 13: Electrodynamics

                  Hey Ufo,

Between experiments I have managed to watch EFTV # 5: Hidden Electrodynamics and is an older Bearden with a more simple/expanded theory. I had seen it when I recieved my DVD in May 2011 but for some reason had not come back to watch it again, till last night.

Thanks for the re-inpiration my friend.

Also, EFTV # 13: Electrodynamics, It's Origins, History and Struggles was the newest DVD he made describing this issue.

                                Tesla Quote

This is my favorite quote of the Master of Radiant Energy and have to show my respect

Ere many generations pass, our machinery will be driven by a power obtainable at any point of the universe. This idea is not novel. Men have been led to it long ago by instinct or reason; it has been expressed in many ways, and in many places, in the history of old and new. We find it in the delightful myth of Antheus, who derives power from the earth; we find it among the subtle speculations of one of your splendid mathematicians and in many hints and statements of thinkers of the present time. Throughout space there is energy. Is this energy static or kinetic! If static our hopes are in vain; if kinetic — and this we know it is, for certain — then it is a mere question of time when men will succeed in attaching their machinery to the very wheelwork of nature.
