Standing waves
Sorry Leviathan but I have to disagree about there not being any standing waves. Every Ham radio operator in the world and probably every CBer knows what a SWR meter is. It measures the standing wave ratio of your feedline and antenna combination. It measures the ratio of power going to the antenna and the power being reflected back to the transmitter. Ideally we want all the power to be radiated by the antenna and not back to the transmitter as reflected power is wasted and can damage the transmitter. I don't think this is exactly the same as what Alvaro is referring to with his coil but standing waves do exist.
