Reverse Tesla Coil

Has anyone tried to use a Tesla Coil in reverse? I have saw some mentioning of the subject online. The torroid is used to capture RE. One persion claimed to have got a 110volt current useing a setup with the torroid suspended up in the air off his roof. It seemes to hold up in theory at least.
