  • shifting the balance of the weights without changing the equilibrium?

Just a little thought that I have had for some time.
if you have two identical gears and a chain around the gears. If you take two identical weights and attaches equal distances on the chain, they will always have the same equilibrium. No matter how the weights fitted, for example, if one weight mounted to the inside of the chain and the other on the outside. There is always a point of attachment which determine equilibrium. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
    (sorry for my bad English)
