Gr8dane I'm asking you same question as ewizard regarding the JT you've build. Is it drawing 0.54ma you were saying? cause if it's so it would be very efficient more than a stingo!!!!!.
    Thanks.

Hi folks, Hi totoalas, in the video you posted, 'JT 2dmax', what circuit are you using, can you post a drawing of what is included with the JT circuit and how it is wired, thanks.
      peace love light

        Hi Sky
the circuit is posted in the Joule thief sec and variants
its basically Dodoshlodo and Therloin Stark using BT 41 triac and old caps from a UPS will feed back to you when I dig on the diagram fpind tge clt post 15
This ckt needs more protection diodes and a better one I kbow you can habdle this lol

        cheers

            Thanks.
I apologize for the wait and the confusion.... 540ma was my highest draw, just over half a amp. While using the Bedini bi-filer coil did charge more efficient than the toroid it would not de-sulfate a battery. I am not positive that this battery is any good may have a dead cell will check today at some point.

Im running on a very low income so most of my stuff is salvage parts from old electronics. I want to try a Bedini coil with a ferrite core. Should have some extra cash next month to blow on a few of my experiments. I will get back here with better info asap!

I wound the toroid last night. It is 2 litzed strands of 18awg 3 wires per strand.
I do not remember how many turns I will have to count. I get the best charge per heat in the transistor at around 350ma. Adjusting the pot I can range the current from 250ma to 770ma. It does charge at 250ma its just slow. Will update as I have better test info.

Sorry about the pics I only have my phone at the moment.

Nothing wrong with those pics - better than we had a few years ago. Thanks for sharing.

Hi gr8dane nothing to apologize my friend I'm searching like you for best circuits
How do you check that there is a dead cell with a hydrometer?
                  Thanks

A hydrometer will only tell you how sulfated the battery is. I check for a dead cell my measuring the voltage across each cell individually. They should all be close to even no matter what the standing voltage is in the battery.

A easier way to tell is take a charged battery and hook it up in series to the suspect battery. The batteries will try to divide the charge between them. If a sell is bad it will bubble and gas. If its really bad you can see and hear it almost immediately. If nothing happens leave it in series and periodically check the acid levels. If a cell is dropping in level it is bad. Be sure if you test this way to do so outside the gas can be rough to say the least.

Thanks for the info. The thing is that I have Big gel cells and cannot see cells check cells individually . Even a car battery is like that. So what do you do? You try to scratch every individual cell open?
                      Thanks

Some times you have to get creative... With lead acid batteries I usually make leads out of coat hangers to go into the fill ports on the cells. If its sealed there isnt many options I have drilled holes before. Ill have to do some reading on the gell batteries being a poor boy Ive only owned 1. When I was a auto mechanic they were just starting to become popular in cars.

                        Bedini-The_Battery_Bible.pdf

I have yet to read the whole doc but its really good info for anyone trying to use batteries.

                            Gr8dane

Nice ... very few wiindings though. I think a little more windings will give a higher back kick. But this should work also.

Hope you enjoy and keep posting your results.

                            Thanks !

I agree it needs more windings. Waiting on check to order more wire. Just using what I have available to try a few different things. In its current config it is desulfating a battery. I also think I mentioned I want to try a Bedini type coil with a ferrite core.

Thanks Rene for the idea and encouragement!

I have rewound my toroids will post pics and add charging data Ive collected when I have more time. Charging a bank of 2 similar batteries over night at around 150-160mA draw. Working very nice. Hoping I have the time to post in detail this weekend.
