  • Problems signing in and out on this forum.

Hi all, I've been having problems for quite some time with this site,

I often need to sign in and out several times.

ie. I can open the site in the browser, then sign in go to a thread then I see I
am no longer signed in, so I need to sign in again, then when I go to make a
post I sometimes need to sign in again.

Then after all that, I can sign out and close the browser shut down the
computer, and after some time start the computer and open the site in the
browser to see I am already signed in. So I sign out and close the browser
then open the site again, when sometimes it can show i am still signed out
then I open a thread and see I am magically signed in again. Sometimes I can
need to sign out several times, because when i reopen the browser and load
the site I'm signed in again when i only just signed out.

This is a bit much, I would think we ought to be able to sign in once, make posts
and navigate the site then only need to sign out once as well.

To me this seems like there is something wrong.

Does anyone else have these problems or similar problems, and only with this site ?

All other web sires work just fine as normal as they should.

Does anyone even have an explanation ?

I can video tape it if I'm not believed, providing it continues that is.

    Cheers.

    login problems

No idea why any of that would be happening.

What I have seen - and probably most regular members here - is that there is a massive increase in the amount of spam. That is about the only difference that I know of and don't see that related to the issues you're having.
    Sincerely,

I used to run a forum, ran into that problem quite a bit.
Its all about the cookies, it seems the browser has problems accessing the session data of the stored cookie. I'm not sure if thats due to your browser or this forum.
I personally have not had any of those problems here. It does happen quite a bit on forums in general though.

The reason it shows your signed in, is that your probably seeing a cached page. If you refresh that page it may show you as signed out.

have you tried using a different browser? that may help.

Yes I see, it must be to do with my browser, that makes sense. I'm not paranoid
about it. But I'll never fix the issue if I don't find out what the cause is. It might
be time to re-install my OS. Just in case I might have picked up some bug.
It is a bit frustrating that's all, and I wondered if anyone else had the issue
if not the issue must be on my side.

I'll try using a different browser first though. Thanks guys.

        Cheers

Oh the other thought i had was that I sometimes log in on a different computer
but it is on the same network connected to the same network switch, there
is probably no way that could be a cause though.

          same here

I have had problems on and off as well, and not only on this site but others I am signed in to. I asked my cable provider and they said that since they had gone to satellite system, they were having problems all over. Seems something is affecting the satellites. Some phenomena in outer space is affecting all their systems. Could be a planet or alignment of planets or some other strange phenomena. I asked when it might be resolved and they could not give me an answer. Sometimes my computer will just stop working, then after a few seconds, start back where it left off. It really gets annoying but if that is the worst of it, I guess I can live it, for now. My other forums seem to be even worse than this one. Good Luck. stealth

That makes sense Stealth, forums are built in php and thats a server side code, so for the cookie data to be updated your connection has to communicate to the forum server. If you are having lag spikes and the cookie data gets distorted it will mess up your forum session which may keep logging you out.

farmhand, if a seperate browser doesnt work any better, I'd say it probably is your connection. My connection has been choppy recently but luckily I havent had any forum problems.
btw, AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition 2012 is the best protection I've seen for bugs. If you reinstall your OS get a fresh copy of this and your good to go.

Hi Guy's, I cleared my cookies and did some unscheduled scans and stuff. Seems
like clearing the cookies did not help for long, and now it is also happening other
sites, exactly the same thing. Whatever it is, it's worse at some times than
others, OH well just can't help bad luck I guess.

              Cheers.

                Hi Aaron,

In the past couple of days I have also experienced login problems, it means I have to wait even 40-50 seconds after entering name and password.

However a bigger problem I have often received nowadays (today already three times in the last 2-3 hours) is Database Error when trying to open an existing thread or entering an answer to a thread.

                  Same Problems Here

I am also having the same problems. I just spent 15 minutes trying over and over again to get to this site. I kept getting the data base error also.
