Antenna experiment. Flying my kite with wire. - YouTube
Is this dangerous?
I would like to see some evidence, especially personal experiences of being struck by lightning or nearly struck using such equipment.
I don't believe what education has taught me.
I have seen a tree in person that was apparently struck by lightning.
Looked pretty burned, but I was a small child at the time, maybe the other boy telling me guessed it was lightning.
The reason I ask is because I know a very experienced Radio Ham in his 60's who manufactures crystal radios and doesn't use a lightning protector.
He uses a long wire antenna that is 262 feet.
If you watch the video at the top of the post the operator is using using an off the shelf diode, or another name for it in the circuit is a "detector".
The detector assembly in this picture allows any crystal radio to have the option not to use off the shelf diodes and instead use a number of retailed crystals for higher output.
This document is of great interest with regards to this line of research.

We are in the early stages of discussion about manufacuturing an educational experimental kit which can be sold to perpetuate the learning of this amazing free energy radio technology and are looking for input to see if anyone would be interested in being involved at any level.
This could be learning, teaching, promoting, selling etc.
At the moment we are still in the brainstorming stage, so everyone's ideas are welcome.
Thank you very much for listening.
Cheers,
Paul
