Looks like a step into the direction of using sulphuric acid as we do today in our car batteries. I do not think it has much to do with telluric currents or solar energy.

I had seen this patent before while looking into Earth Batteries.
Is there an Earth Battery thread here?

Anyway, the bit about aligning magnets north-south caught
my attention since I'm thinking about the Hendershot MK1 device.

I wrapped a simple solenoid coil around a "cow" magnet,
30AWG magnetic wire... as many turns as it takes to cover the magnet,
leaving a CENTER-TAP -- per the MK1.
I'm not sure if the MK1 uses a ring magnet or a cylinder magnet ...
Its worth it to try both.

Anway, hooking this thing up to the scope shows some really ODD
results. My scope, for some reason, cannot display ANYTHING on certain
Volts/Second settings. It is true that the scope probe will be
providing energy to the coil.

I then had this RELAY buzzing, and with the center tap LEAD,
if I connect the center tap (of the magnet coil), to one LEG
of the RELAY coil (while its buzzing), other odd effects are observed
on the scope...The effect is to MESS up the scope
big time. Other voltage/sec settings do work but show a LARGE
downward, curving pulse that far exceeds the volts/sec setting.

I suspect this coil-around-magnet idea has some interesting properties...
such as almost a DIODE effect .... and a change in the inductance
since the B-H curve may stretch out to be a larger rectangle ...
